you can get to zurich pretty easily from most of switzerland. the guy is coming from sweden (swaziland?) fer christs sake! and he's offered to do another day in basel if there's demand. what more do you want?? seriously, give them an inch...

Secondary point perhaps Paul could take down the concerns from the Zurich meeting and post replies on the forum for all to see.

Might be nice if this could be a regular event.

People thought I was being mean spirited when I objected to the German-language thread on the same principle.

Is the English Forum for a tiny clique of Zurich residents or German speakers, or is it for everyone who wishes to be part of it, regardless of where they live in Switzerland?

Well, the idea was to have something in Basel on Thursday night if there was enough interest but I'd be happy to do it in any of those cities on Thursday instead. Zurich and Basel are where the majority of the members are based though, so like I said, that didn't seem unreasonable.

I'm with mirfield and catalyst on this one. This is a good effort on their part (small if that is how you want to think about it, but an effort still)and should be supported.

Erm perhaps we should start a single thread minus rants with just questions on specifically for that meeting. Everyone can contribute then.

Yeah but Sweden is just the Swedish name for Switzerland innit? so not all that far to travel

just FYI... from my house to Zurich it's a 3.5 hour train ride.. then I gotta find this bar.. a bit much for the chance of a free beer and answers to questions that could be answered here.

as for Paul coming all the way from Sweden.... errr... he's the one that owns this ( for profit ) enterprise

I have also ticked the box too, but I got the said email. Weirdly enough, requests to retrieve my password do not reach my email though.

Will probably not attend, as I wish to be fresh and clear headed enough to get drunk on Thursday evening.

You are totally right. This is how the forum is so practical. One can actually post and reply directly in here for everybody to participate and get the informations straight. If an event want to be made, I have no problem with that but first things first and let's make things right.

The Local has a communication problem. Having an event in one or two cities won't fix the communication issue. But being on THIS forum and participating actively to answer questions and concerns will.

Yeah I green rep the guy too. Even if only to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I agree with the concern that there is a lack of communication between the Local and us;Giving Paul grief about the event is in No way helping that.

I think it has been duly noted that a thread, and answering questions here is also required.

My observation having now read the terms of use would be as follows.
Paul, if youre coming over to Zurich and want to meet up with some EFfers for a beer, its fair enough and it wouldnt be any different to a beer and burger lunch in Geneva in terms of the use of the discussion.
However, I do find it a bit on the feeble side to pass those legally enforceable terms off as simply" oh we only did it cos the lawyers told us to" - I personally don`t believe you and your partners are that naive.

It is clear from all the comments that EFfers want to have a chance to discuss this and they may have misunderstood your intentions , hence the request for minutes of a presumed official meeting.
I would suggest that if you expect the members to take the terms of use seriously then you should respect their request for dialogue as well and provide an adequate means for all of us to express them , a debate without which, will leave some members still unsure of your motives.

I don't agree sometimes a face to face produces better results than a load of rabid expats with loaded questions on an EF thread.

Yes we have concerns over an awol Administrator, they will be raised by me if I am there. We'll see maybe I can't make it. If and when I confirm. I will take any concerns to the horse's mouth.

As I said someone start a thread with just questions for Paul, perhaps it will give Paul time to prepare answers to post back to EF.

If I have to minute it I will

It would help me if people start a thread with just questions as they would start the basis of a set of minutes...

yes a face to face would be nice... but so far the only face-to-face on the table is one in Zurich ( with 3 people currently confirmed ) and vague offers of future events.

once again this is a forum... the forum concerned... where questions could be answered

was it you said there should be a separate thread away from the stick and stones here ( and kudo's to Paul.. he did answer my question even as GrumpyGit pointed out.. "perhaps" rather naively tossing it back on to the lawyers )
