Amigos (friends), after much talk, it's here.

http://dapur-indonesia.ch/

Price?
69CHF per person inclusive of the coffee at the end but exclusive of the drinks during the meal.

What do you need to do?
This is a special menu that the chef is cooking just for us upon request. This means that, a couple of days prior to the dinner, we need to close the RSVP and call the chef to confirm the exact number of attendees. This also means that we will need a CHF 30 deposit from you if you decide to attend, no later than Thursday, November 24 to secure your spot. No deposit, no party - sorry. You will then pay your balance (CHF 39 plus the drinks) on the day of the dinner, directly to the restaurant.

Deposit collection
There are a few ways that you can pay your deposit:
1. Directly to me at the German Conversation Group on either of the following Wednesdays from now till the event: Nov. 9 or 23.
2. Directly to me at this lunch event in Zurich.
3. If you can't make either option, please PM me or forum member gourmet to arrange a mutually convenient time/place.
4. I cannot guarantee (depending on work commitments), but one of us or both might also be at the Viadukt some/all Thursdays this month. We will update this thread if that's the case.

What else?
I know it is quite a bit of money, however, I invite you all to read this thread for some raving reviews of the place. I cannot say enough how much I love this restaurant, both for the food and the outstanding service.

I hope many of you will make it!

Do we have a reserve list? I popped my back again and am prone of the sofa waiting for the med's to kick in, but may have to bail. Sorry it's such short notice

Oh, PagaG, that really sucks... Hopefully you will require soon. It also double sucks, as I had taken cash out to pay my overdue debt. PM me so we can sort that out.

Re: A Taste of Indonesia - Dinner in Zurich SPECIAL EDITION

OK. I finally recovered and got home to write about this.

Firstly: thanks to Federica and gourmet for organising. This was a great evening!

To be honest, I have no real complaints, but of course if I were to be picky, I would give following feedback:

- some courses were on the light side - in particular, the prawns course could have been more substantial (Federica didn't even manage to get a photo before they disappeared!) but overall portion sizes were good and I have to say that I was sated by the end of the 11 courses - though I did manage to fit in an extra dessert course
- initial service was slow. there seemed to be an eternity between the initial soup and the flow of dishes. perhaps this was because the 5 people around me insisted on talking about various foods and made me even more hungry! but by the 3rd course, the food was flowing at a good pace.
- toilets. fix the toilet door lock indicator!
- teapots. seriously. what's going on with the sideways handle?? give me function over form any day!
- the dishes were not introduced consistently, perhaps due to the frenzy of having to serve 20 people. given that this was ordered in advance, it would have been nice to have a 'menu' on the table introducing the dishes and giving a description of each one

as you can see the above points are very minor. now for the good stuff:

- the food. I have to say, I really enjoyed every course - even the vegetarian ones! good variety/selection. nice portion sizes and very tasty!
- i witnessed just one service drop and the waitress was very apologetic and immediately fixed this. i was very impressed with the service. while not the same as service in a multi-starred restaurant, given the diner/staff ratio, i don't think you could get better service than this.
- Nice atmosphere and surroundings was nice. small enough to be cosy without feeling that you're crammed next to another table
- Very well organised. These guys really have got it together.

In summary: probably the best dining experience I've had in Switzerland to date. 5/5 Phil_MCstaRs

I have no idea what you are talking about! We were quiet as mice!

Was a lovely dinner. Apart from the duck. I shall remember never to eat duck there. I was really lucky to have tried only a tiny piece, because it looked spicy!

Something I have to agree with Phil. I heard about dishes I didn't see... Was one table served with different dishes from the other?

no, we got the same food on both tables.. what give you the idea that we got different food? The chef did complain to me that your table did not eat up! there were loads left!
