19.02.2012 15:00 to 21:00
*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Adliswil (Zurich)
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Pot Belly's, Soodring 21

Come one, come all to the first Sunday Roast of 2012!!

The doors open at 15.00 for us and the buffet will start between 15.30 and 16.00. It will be all-you-can-eat until it is gone or until around 19.00 (whichever comes first). The bar will stay open (with pool included in the cost) until around 21.00.

Menu:
Two Roast Meats (most likely pork and beef)
Roast Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
Fresh Steamed Veggies
Homemade Yorkshire Puddings
Gravy
Homemade Applesauce
Homemade Horseradish sauce
Dessert: Apple Pie and Custard (or similar)

Drinks are *not* included

Price: 49.50CHF if paid in advance by Thursday 16.February.2012 (to me) and by Saturday if paid to the venue
59.90CHF if paid at the door

Kids 12 and under: 25CHF---the venue also has a little play area for them

Location:
Pot Belly's
Soodring 21
8134 Adliswil
http://www.potbellys.ch/

It is a short 14 minute ride on the S4 from the Zurich main station (you do need a zone extension). Trains run every 20 minutes off track 1, and Pot Belly's is literally above the Sood-Oberleimbach stop. There is some parking available nearby as well.

You can pay me directly, through an IBAN deposit or through "cash" in the mail, both of which require PM exchanges (easy). Or you can go to Pot Belly's and pay in person (also easy if you live nearby). If you decide the latter, please let them know you are from the EF. And either way, please let me know by indicating your method of paying in YOUR RSVP so that we have separated who pays directly to the restaurant and who pays directly to me... Logistically, you all don't care about this but it matter to us organizers, so please help me out by doing this.

Remember, ALL are welcome!!

Any questions, let me know. Looking forward to it!

Just an update on today-

There will be a lot more people than just from the EF at the event (who paid to the venue in advance)...so make sure that if you are from the EF, you come find me, Julie, so that I can explain to you how everything works...especially if you have paid in advance and I don't know you.

Also, this is probably the last event I will organize for the EF...so hopefully it will be a good one.

That's awful news. One of the finest event organisers here. I hope it wasn't because of the petty and superfluous criticism about things beyond your control by similar people ?

The JLF I have met can rise above this rubbish and still pull a rabbit out of a hat when it comes to organizing events. For every one criticism there are a hundred praises - I wish I could be so popular !!

Would have loved to, but had to get Frau Mueller to bend from her hips with a rather large club in her hands!

Next time eh Julez.

I want to send a huge thank you to Julie and the PB folk - we had a fantastic afternoon! The food, company and pool playing was tons of fun, I'm sad we didn't make it to earlier events.

Thanks again Julie and see you soon!!!!

That's a real shame JLF I would have loved to have come to one in the future - couldn't make today due to sick husband

Thank you once again for you effort, JLF. It was nice to see so many families.

True to the spirit, you are never to young to start a delinquent childhood and teach your kids pool

A great crowd.

Thank you SO much for coming out. It was the best one yet, that is for sure. The beef...perfect. The yorkies...fantastic. And the pie...ok, the crust...amazing. The company...priceless (really!).

I even found love for mini-mimi and coconut's "oldest". They kissed and everything (so cute!).

The support I received today from you all--the ones that actually matter--was good for my soul. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

Re: "Proper" Sunday Roast 2012, Part 1

Thank you JLF for organizing such a great event. The food was fab, it just gets better and better and I'm absolutely stuffed now.

JLF puts herself out to organize this and I think it's absolutely outrageous that she gets a hard time for it. JLF doesn't set the price, it is what it is and it's not mandatory, if you don't want to pay or go you don't have to but it doesn't give you a license to "bash" the organizer. We chose to live here, yes it's an expensive country but you won't get value for money for a roast like we had to today in Switzerland.

I went to the first Sunday roast that JLF organized. I was literally a few days off the plane, didn't know anyone and plucked up the courage to attend. I was made to feel so welcome by JLF and many others who I now consider real friends.

Well done for a great day JLF, don't let the bashers get you down and see you at the next one

Re: "Proper" Sunday Roast 2012, Part 1

I had a great time today JLF, even though I didn't have the roast and ordered off the regular menu.

Just for the record not having the roast is all to do with my lack of willpower and inability to resist copious amounts of roast parsnips, roast potatoes, yorkshires let alone the roast beef, roast turkey and fab vegetables that go with it - at previous ones I have gone home and lain on my sofa resembling a beached whale so this time I avoided temptation and feel better for it.

I do think it is a shame that this is JLF's last do as organiser - you did a great job in persuading somewhere to do this for all of us ex-pats missing our Sunday Roast and continued doing a great job getting groups together for it and making sure we were all happy at the events themselves - know that your efforts are sincerely appreciated by so many.

For me, I wouldn't have gotten to know so many EFers without it and when I added airfare to UK carvery prices, this was a deal!!!!

Thanks JLF
