Meeting Point: Kino Xenix

Hi all,
One of my absolute favorite movies, Crazy Heart, will be showing at the Xenix next week. I have seen it multiple times, but I never get tired of it. Some more info about the movie and the Xenix by clicking the links.

Anyone fancy to join me? The movie starts at 19, but I will get there a bit earlier to buy the ticket, and possibly enjoy a beer before the start. I love the Xenix.

16CHF for watching a old movie on a small screen?

You can get the Blu-ray for almost less:
http://www.amazon.com/Crazy-Heart-Bl...3378857&sr=8-5

As such, if you just want to watch the movie, yell, we can solve that differently (unless you like going to Xenix that is, it is quite a cosy one, but a bit too cosy for me....)

True, but I have a soft spot for the Xenix - both the bar and the movie theater - because of lots of good memories associated with the place, plus I really like the people who work there and the characters (ehm, I meant the patrons) who go there.

So I am happy to spend my money to support their business. I think the reason I like it so much is because I see fragments of San Francisco and Berlin in the Xenix - hence I feel, somehow, "at home" there (if that makes sense at all).

and the characters... "at home" there (if that makes sense at all).
From the odd 20 or so times over the years that I have been there, I know exactly what you mean with 'characters' and they are definitely of the good type. Though as I don't really have a 'home' (moved too much around I guess) I don't really feel at home there, but as said, it is quite cosy.

With the prices of the movie and then on top of that the popcorn and a drink it is hard to justify watching a movie with some other person (who is not me or in our party) talking through it or otherwise making the movie un followable (although, actually now I think about it, this never happend up to the highly annoyance level in Xenix, it must have been Frosch where that happend), also after a while one gets used to be able to hit the pause button, get more liquor, hit play or reverse it a bit, and continue watching

Though I guess my prime gripe about cinemas come from the point that here in Zurich they show the English version when I do not have time and then it is translated version for the rest of the time unless you want to watch it for the same amount of cash on a screen smaller than most TVs out there...

(and why in deities name is there no proper IMAX 3D cinema in Switzerland that plays current movies.... now that one can't easily do at home yet )

The more I travel around - and the less I have a home in the proper meaning of the term - the more I find that "home", for me, means being in a place where I find people with whom I can connect. The Xenix is for me that kind of place in Zurich, among a few others.

For example, I like it here very much, I go whenever I have a chance. Also, playing chess with elderly people in the giant boards at the Lindenhof - same "homey" feeling.

Re: Crazy Heart - Kino Xenix

Hi all, I am scandalously late (last minute client) but I am on my way now. Sorry, it is the nature of the business - as I keep telling my very understanding friends for the last few years. Sorry again!

EDIT: sorry, nope. I have to go back. I am a horrible organizer, but there is unfortunately nothing I can do about it. I am so sad to miss is!!! AAAGGG!
