So you only expect people who can't play at all?

Re: Zurich Sunday Football

This week we'll continue playing at our Ämtlerwiese location because they are still re-painting the lines on the Paradeplatz field. We'll resume activities there next week.

Though we're playing this game on the grass field, we might cancel the game if it rains. Let's give the grass a rest during wet weather for a few weeks or it'll just end up being a total mess.

Please bring along 2 shirts (either white, dark, or colour), and if you've got a football bring that along too.

Doing the anti-rain dance as I write this...

Re: Zurich Sunday Football

After the last experience on the grass field on Tuesday, I would say it is better to play on the smaller pitch because it is more organized and it has clear lines. Maybe we can do turns if we are so many people.

Re: Zurich Sunday Football

I disagree, If the lack of lines is a problem is it not easier to just put jumpers or bags on corners and half way line to show when the ball has gone out.

Personally I think the additional space allows the football to flow a lot better as everyone has more time on the ball to look up etc. This in preference to a pitch that is most likely intended for 5 or 6 a side for kids aged 12 and 13 or younger.

I know people will say the small pitch will improve technique and while this maybe true I think the pitch is just too small because a) we are not good enough to keep playing the pass and move that this pitch requires to retain possession. b) Even if we were good enough I dont know if the majorities fitness is good enough to do this for more than 10 minutes.

c) I cant think of a c right now, having said all that I think it may be a problem in a few weeks when the summer hits consistently the grass could easily be used by people sunbathing, bbqing and generally getting annoyed at a ball hitting them every four minutes. However I have never been to the park before this year.

Re: Zurich Sunday Football

Couple of things:

Time Problem:
Fixed! 12pm - 2pm

Regarding playing on Grass vs. Padded Pitch:
I get plenty requests for playing on both fields, but with 22 people it's just easier to play on grass. We'll go back to playing at the Paradeplatz location on Sundays when the field renovation is complete, and mix it up every once in a while with a grass outing. Variety being the spice....and all that

Rain:
Let's keep our fingers crossed, if it miraculously turns sunny this afternoon and through to tomorrow, than we could still be on for a game.

Re: Zurich Sunday Football

piiab - cancelling after the game has already started, poor show. I would've liked to play today, and could have if you had been a little more considerate.

If you're not 100% sure you're going to make it along, let it be known in enough time to allow someone else to play. :-)
