City/Town: Zurich
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Schanzengrabenpromenade

Fun, friendly football fun close to Paradeplatz.

Notes:

* Please sign as 'yes' or 'no'. 'Maybe' only after 15 people have signed up.
* Check the thread for a game on / game off notice
* Play nice - it's FUN, not the World Cup final.
* The time is 12:00 - 14:00
* New players and women are very welcome (unless we've reached the player limit)
* All skill levels are represented, ranging from comically inept to Spanish
* It's free
* A lovely, refreshing fountain is nearby. Bring a plastic bottle.
* If the pitch is slippy or if it's raining the event is cancelled (because it's really dangerous)

PLAYER LIMIT 15
AFTER 15 people have signed up then go ahead and sign up as 'Maybe', so that we have an orderly waiting list.

If you have signed up as 'Yes':
Please show up on Sunday or update your status well in advance.

If you are signed up on the 'Maybe' waiting list:
Keep checking through till Sunday morning to see if anybody has dropped out.

Re: Zurich Sunday Afternoon Five-a-Side Football

hi, will we not be able to play on the full size field like last week. that way alot more guys get to join in. the football is something that we all seem to reallyenjoy, so if possible then could this be considered.
thanks

Given the large amount of people already on the waiting list, I'm in favour of that! If anyone else also prefers playing on grass, please let it be known. Cheers

Happy to play in the grass pitch.

In the meantime, the award to this week's queue jumpers goes to: Farns and mareri (could you two read instructions over and move your names to the Maybe list, a.k.a Waiting list?)

Re: Zurich Sunday Afternoon Five-a-Side Football

What's the forecast? OK just checked my weather app. Raining cats and dogs tomorrow, dry and cloudy on Sunday (although dropping from today's 27C to 14C !).

Depending on how much it rains tromorrow, and the last time of rainfall, Paradeplatz may be too dangerous anyway. Will check this thread later on...

Re: Zurich Sunday Afternoon Five-a-Side Football

Already 23 folks signed up - another option if we got a couple more folk, to allow everyone to play, would be to have a second game of 5-a-side at the Ämtlerwiese.

Re: Zurich Sunday Afternoon Five-a-Side Football

Sorry guys, I'm organising the games at Paradeplatz pitch for a while. I would be glad to keep this running and if someone's willing to set up the second game on a Saturday (or even Sunday), then we'd have the choice of locations. I might join in on the grass games too, but want to keep this ground going for non-Zurich based EF members. I've said this a couple of times, so please organise a separate event, I can't keep multiple events going but would gladly help you with the event write-up.

On another note, Farns and mareri have been moved from the 'Yes' list for queue jumping. Sorry guys, please join the back of the Maybe queue, or it wouldn't be fair to everyone who was on the waiting list.

Please check this thread on Sunday morning at 10a.m., if it's too wet then we'll move to grass.

Re: Zurich Sunday Afternoon Five-a-Side Football

I suggest the 'maybes' attend the grass pitch this Sunday (there are 9 of us and I might be able to recruit one more),we also have the opportunity to play on the astroturf if we fancy on the day. Then next week someone arranges a separate event....I would, but I'm not authorised to yet :-) ja?

Just to encourage you to move the event to grass:

I understand that you want to keep the tradition going but it's not terribly difficult to get to the Aemtlerwiese, is it? S-Bahn to Hardbruecke and then Bus 33 to Bertastrasse. That can take as little as 10 mins which is about the same time it takes to get to Paradeplatz from HB (walking to the stop Bahnhofstrasse/HB and taking the tram). I am, however, assuming that non-Zurich members get a day ticket for travel in Zurich and don't just walk to and from Schanzengraben.

For all the Maybes, I've set up an event for a second game at the Ämtlerwiese here, since we have more than enough people to have a separate game. Ab'dy's in!

Re: Zurich Sunday Afternoon Five-a-Side Football

Thread Bump, a number of our 'Yes' players have switched to the Ämtlerwiese location as they have a grass field there in case it rains. Let's see if we can still keep this location going for a few weekends. If not we can regularly move to the other fields and come back in winter.

3 more players would be nice to have though...

Oops, I didn't mean to queue jump, I just wasn't paying attention. Anyway I have hurt my foot now so can't play. I'll get it right next time.
