24.06.2012 15:00 to 21:00
*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Zurich (Adliswil)
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Pot Belly's, Soodring 21, 8134 Adliswil

Per the request of many on the forum and also the people at Potbelly's, here we go again... Sunday Roast-Part II!!

The doors open at 15.00 for us and the buffet will start between 15.30 and 16.00. It will be all-you-can-eat until it is gone or until around 19.00 (whichever comes first). The bar will stay open (with pool included in the cost) until around 21.00.

Menu:
Two Roast Meats (most likely pork and beef)
Roast Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
Fresh Steamed Veggies
Homemade Yorkshire Puddings
Gravy
Homemade Applesauce
Homemade Horseradish sauce
Dessert: Apple Pie and Custard (or similar)

Drinks are *not* included

Price: 49.50CHF if paid in advance by Tuesday 19.June.2012
59.90CHF if paid at the door

Kids 12 and under: 25CHF---the venue also has a little play area for them

Location:
Pot Belly's
Soodring 21
8134 Adliswil
http://www.potbellys.ch/

It is a short 14 minute ride on the S4 from the Zurich main station (you do need a zone extension). Trains run every 20 minutes off track 1, and Pot Belly's is literally above the Sood-Oberleimbach stop. There is some parking available nearby as well.

You can pay me directly, through an IBAN deposit or through "cash" in the mail, both of which require PM exchanges (easy). Or you can go to Pot Belly's and pay in person (also easy if you live nearby). If you decide the latter, please let them know you are from an "expat forum". And either way, please let me know by indicating your method of paying in YOUR RSVP so that we have separated who pays directly to the restaurant and who pays directly to me. Also, if you have signed up "elsewhere", please don't sign up here...or indicate to me that you are a repeat. Logistically, you all don't care about this but it matter to us organizers, so please help me out by doing this.

Remember, ALL are welcome!!

Any questions, let me know. Looking forward to it!
RSVP'd Yes: 16 (9 members and 7 guests)

And as a comment, please minimize the snarky comments. If you have a concern about the logistics, please pm me. We have been through this many times and we do the best we can.

Thanks.

How did I miss this???

Of course we will be there and it's the weekend before my birthday which I don't plan on celebrating after we lost our good friend the day before last year. I'll make this my birthday celebrations instead!

Thanks JLF yet again for organising. I assume we'll see your dashing husband to be again too? And this time I may even challenge you to pool (as long as I don't drink as much wine as last time )

Cookies or cake to celebrate with? I will be happy to make whichever you prefer.

I will be sending IBAN info tomorrow in order to give you guys a week and a bit to pay me. Thus, if you are signed up by tomorrow, you will be included on my list. I will also try to make an appearance at the Viadukt on Thursday to give an in-person way to pay me. Your choice, folks.

Even if you sign up after, I will keep an eye out to re-send my IBAN info as necessary. The more the merrier!

Any questions, concerns, please let me know. Thanks!

Re: Sunday Roast-Part II

...so far, I have payment from...no one.

Please make sure your payment clears by Tuesday (next) in order to secure the "cheaper" price.

I will also be at the 'dukt tonight after 7pm if you want to pay me in cash in person.

Re: Sunday Roast-Part II

Payment is on the way or already cleared from everyone on this list except:
Crazy Bird
Prof. T

You have until Tuesday to guarantee the 50CHF price. Otherwise, it is 60CHF. If you are planning on coming and know *at all* in advance, please also let me know. It really helps the kitchen to know (as close as possible) the number of people we will have.

Thanks and looking forward to it!

Re: Sunday Roast-Part II

Hope this serves as a bump, I love a good roast, well, actually any roast.

Though I have to say a roast in late June in a country where it can easily exceed 30C is pushing it for me, I will have to drag the missus to Züri a bit later in the year if you can keep on advertising these events.

Re: Sunday Roast-Part II

Agreed that eating this much food on a hot summer day may be pushing it, but the place has a great terrace and cold drinks to keep us satisfied...

Normally, this event is fall/winter/spring only. But we thought it might be nice to have one last one before summer really takes over. And three days ago (or so), a roast would have been a welcome meal in the dreary rain-soaked days.

I am looking forward to it!

What a great day!! Thank you so much for the pre-birthday giant cookie and for all of the laughs. I'm still not convinced I met the real MusicChick as you lot have a reputation for winding me up I think she was really Mrs T after all

Both me and mini-mimi slept all the way home. Her from sheer exhaustion and me, probably the two large gins before we left could be the cause

Nichola, as far as I know there is no "vegetarian option" to the roast per se - see this post - however, you are always more than welcome to come for the fun company and order off the regular menu, which most definitely has vegetarian options.

Hope to see you around at a future event!

Re: Sunday Roast-Part II

Yay. I right enjoyed it yesterday, for a change,

Cookies were lovely, and it was nice there were a load of Yorkies and roasties right from the start for a change (normally they seem to arrive in dribs and drabs) so I could (and did) grab a few without feeling guilty.

It was especially intriguing to finally meet MrsT in real life. She's actually much worse than she appears online.

Once again, everybody was too scared to play pool while I was there.

We missed the first half of the footie, but it seems we didn't miss much. We'll have to look at catching the train next time.

Re: Sunday Roast-Part II

It was lovely to see old faces (I mean those I know already) and put some more faces to nicks, especially the ultimate Essex crowd, and Mrs T... Kids were behaved and entertaining, I didn't even mind having some gooy mess spat in my hand.

Thanks for giving me the fab opportunity to finally taste the..whatsit..donuty things, yorkshire puddings. I am hooked. Only with that lovely gravy, though. The strudel was mňam mňam, though not sure about all the meat quantity. Are we all gona have a gout now? Loved mixing horseradish with apple souce, just like home.

Music talk was fun fun. Can't believe Mogwai has sold out the tix, bummer.
