WTF??? And to think I've probably been cycling past this a few times now!

I'm beginning to wonder about the swiss...missile sites, nuclear bunkers, a gun in every house...I guess neutral is not the same as unarmed...
Lovely backroad for cycling from Menzingen to Gubel past the missiles and on to Restaurant Kistenpass. Past the restaurant you enjoy a spectacular view on lake Aegeri. Halfway downhill turn left towards Alosen and Raten. Another nice backroad.

Unarmed? Don't confuse neutral with naive.

Tyre wear :-)
Or specifically, tyre tearing. Chances are - given the suspension and the type of bike, and the likely hard compound tyre - your tyres were probably overworked.

Things to look for - excessive rounding of the drainage groove edges, bobbling of rubber (especially at chicken strip edge), discolouration (where some of the rubber oils seep out under stress). And the easiest one of the lot - no chicken strips!

Other notables - how much travel your shocks have had recently (ie is the shaft polished clean, right to the stop), and whether the pegs are worn...

I like the 15 christian markers on the climb to Gubel church...as a cyclist it's good to know how much suffering you have left to do, by counting them down!

Indeed. As a friend on facebook pointed out - neutral or not - arming yourself to the teeth is a good way of persuading your neighbours to leave you alone.

Very good slimsphotos and silverburn, tyre wear was indeed mentioned as a sign of a track day! That and signs of heavy use of the front brake

Re: Motorcycle ride sunday 27th May

Looks like we're going to meet in Brunnen (you can't miss the various cafés that cater to the motorcycling crowd by the lake, but just in case, you can look up the intersection of Axenstrasse and Waldstätterquai) and head south. The intent is to do the Oberalp and Lukmanier passes, keep going to Biasco, and then come back north over the Gotthard.

Something like that route, minus the highways. Time is not yet decided, but we're discussing a fairly early meet at the moment, 8 or 9ish.

Edit: 9:00 in Brunnen.
