Meeting Point: Steinfels

Hi all, I decided to step out of my comfort zone this time, and try something different. This lunch appointment is a bit of an exception for me, kind of like a blind date - I have never been to this place, and nobody has recommended it to me. I have no idea whether the food is good or not, and whether the service is good or not. Reviews of the place that I've read online are extreme: people love it or hate it.

However, I've been lured by its website - the place looks weird enough, fun enough, that it could be interesting to try!

Ready for a jump back to the 70s? Let's give it a shot and see

Oh boo, I will definitely miss this one as I will be in the UK - it does look an amazing place. I hesitate to mention this but the 70s are within living memory for me, and the vivid orange colour used in this bar was certainly dead popular, along with a really dreary flat purple. My lost youth, sigh. Sorry, bit off topic there.......... Looking forward to hearing what BokerTov and friends think of Steinfels.

Thanks Hobs! The place definitely looks "funky", we'll see how the food is (hopefully good). See you next time!

Steinfels is quite ok - have been there a few times. People mainly go for the beers but the food is also good Not "wow" great, but good enough that I've been back a 2nd and 3rd time

Ha, ha, good one. It's not 21 December 2012 yet.

I can't bring them, unfortunately, but I hope you have a great time.

Interesting, I normally go for the food and avoid the beers. The food is OK but not the best in town, worth a visit.

Lol - well to caveat, I am no beer drinker and have never had any there, but had heard that they are some kind of beer related establishment. Nigelr is therefore a more reliable source

Do you think we'll be able to get a table outside? Am feeling a bit sun-starved after a week of looking at the lovely sunshine and happy relaxed people from my office window

Re: A Taste of the Seventies - Lunch in Zürich

Rock 'n roll, guys!

Awesome time. The "Wochenburger" was very tasty, although not really a burger, but a wrap with tzatziki, tomato, arugula, and grilled chicken breast. Coleslaw not covered in sauce - win. Fries - win. I was pleased with the food, didn't have a chance to try the beers.

Only minus for me was the slow service, if you are in a hurry, tell them beforehand. Cool company, see you all next time, and thanks for coming!

Not quite sure how I didn't see this one earlier, so overall impression of the blind date was slow and tasty . . . . . gutted to have missed it
