The Quest for Taco Bell

Fellow EFers, during our last KFC outing my fellow poultry brethren and I came to the conclusion, that we ought to step it up a notch. Now, we've done 10 successful installments of the wholesome chicken run and I must admit, that it's becoming a bit of a habit. I mean we almost know the way by heart know, staff know and greet us with "Hello strange and crazy foreigners"..and most of us don't even get the runs after the run . Soooo, we figured, that we must out-do the well established brainfart with an even better quest. Yes, who will join in on the mighty Taco Bell run to Madrid. We could depart some time noonish, stop in Marseille for the night and then venture out to Madrid in the morning for some wholesome Taco Bell. (see address here: http://maps.google.ch/maps?rls=com.m...d=0CIkBEPwSMAA)

Now I must admit, that culinary speaking, this isn't a clear step-up but I sense that it will be worth it....comments, feedback, any definite joiners?

I don't know why you need to go to the toilets in Prado but if it's in Madrid, we can definitely squeeze it in to our important schedule.

just joking, we really enjoyed our lunch stops at Taco Bell in the USA (more than KFC...).
my only question would be are european servings just as big as in the USA? we never managed to eat up, no matter how hungry...

Given the huge population of South Americans in Madrid, why go there for Tex Mex? Thats like travelling to London for fondue.

*Sigh* I'm afraid, you've missed the whole purpose of the Quest.
(gently fading in Glory, Glory Hallelujah) I mean, this isn't about the food itself...this is about the pursuit of happiness, to achieve and obtain the unachievable/unobtainable...to be a mdoern day conqueror in this mundane society of conformist....this is the quest for life...and by no means, shall we question our motives nor should we question our sanity. The goal of this quest is the path which leads to the quest....(gently fading out Glory, Glory Hallelujah).

Re: The Quest for Taco Bell

I don't know if any of you have heard of Nandos??

But a quest for this would be epic as i think the nearest one is in Cyprus or Turkey :-)

Anyone up for it??

me, me, me! Definite joiner here, I see chalupas everywhere I look now.

(And since this was only my first chicken run, can we stop at KFC on the way to Spain? )

If he puts up a Taco Bell sign in the yard, can we just go to st2lemans's house instead? Same camaraderie, better food (or so I hear).

Mmmmm Nandos Spicy Chicken, I mean real, *spicy* chicken. Oh, how I miss you Cavendish Square with all your great food stalls.

PS: Isn't the whole deal of "Quest for Munchies" to go to the nearest location?
Olten -> Lakeside Shopping Center 892 km, 10 hours 10 minutes
Olten -> Madrid 1'583 km, 15 hours 20 minutes

PPS: Olten -> Istanbul 2'280 km, 24 hours, And there is a Nondo's on our side of the city.

PPPS: Madrid is also an opportunity to get a Jamón Ibérico de Bellota

PPPPS: How about White Castle?

Uh, both Nando's and Taco Bell in/around Basildon, Essex so much closer for both than Madrid.

I'm easily convinced... So I'm IN. Definitely a step up from the KFC Quest

Jamon Iberico is a nice added bonus.

Re: The Quest for Taco Bell

There is a factual error on the Taco Bell UK website.. they claim that they've just arrived in the UK

Quote:
The first Taco Bell® in the UK was launched in the Lakeside Shopping Centre (Thurrock) in June of 2010 and the second opened in Eastgate Shopping Centre (Basildon) November 2010
Source
However a spotty 14 year old Castro fondly remembers spending his lunch money at Taco Bell in Uxbridge some 2 decades earlier.

They need to be more honest, they tried to launch in the UK but were rejected by the sophisticated British palate, however as society has dumbed down, so has people taste in food.. hence their re-introduction
