The "Freeze" "Phenomena"
I'm hoping there are some media types here. I want to try shooting a short
film on Saturday. Have you heard about the Zurich freeze this weekend?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMj3PJDxuo
I need a youngish couple and a dodgy looking guy to be a pick-pocket.
Imagine if you had the power to freeze a pick-pocket running away from
you with your girlfriend's purse. The ending is great, and very funny.
Don't want to reveal too much though! Rest assured - the guilty are
brought to justice!
I was going to use my stills cameras which takes VGA video, but if
someone has a digital camcorder, and would like to come along to film,
or lend - that would be great...

Re: Budding filmakers / actors sought this Saturday
Do you have the details for the Zürich-Freeze?
If you are interested, I have the tool to help create this effect... check it out, it was partially used in the Grand Central Station-Freeze.
Time-Lapse with Panorama movement. The website is
here . It is called Precision Pano.
If I can help... call. I need the information as soon as possible to plan accordingly.
Thanks! CU

Where
exactly on that page? Dodgy link guy, reverts to default page. Does this require a login? Perhaps you'd be good enough to add this .pdf as an attachment to the thread.

Re: Budding filmakers / actors sought this Saturday
Unfortunately I have a job on Saturday afternoon. I did offer my services for the next time around.
Sounds interesting. If anyone has the time, be a part of it!
Have fun, Scott

Sorry, I must rephrase... I was not at Central Station... but the form of photography was used and presented in the video.
If you take a look at
this , you will see the similarities.
Have a good day!

Apart from both being done in a train station, what similarities..?! One is time-lapse photography and the other is a bunch of people standing still.

In the NY Central Station video, you will see parts of the film (ie. at the beginning) that are time-lapse. My Precision Pano does time-lapse and panorama movements. Flexible, controlled and programmable (L, R, pause, ramp times, wait times, movement times, etc.).
This would be prime during the ZH event on Saturday, but I already have an assignment for the late afternoon.
Oh well, next time!

I wasn't being deliberately funny. I truly don't understand the point

That's why your comment made me laugh!

Ah, the American one was well shot (with multiple cameras, it looks like) and well edited. Inclusion of comments from onlookers, especially the guy with the electric car and walkie-talkie, made it very entertaining.
A few of the Zurich ones -- oh, dear -- had too much quick panning of the camera (dizzy!) and not enough shots of onlookers reacting to the frozen people.

I love it! I find it eerie but highly interesting. It's out of the norm but doesn't interfere with any body's freedom, it makes you think.
