City/Town: Zurich.
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Zoo Tram Stop

Following the first EF MTB ride of the year yesterday. We will continue the theme next Tuesday (Weather permitting). The trails were a little slippery but fun anyway yesterday. Hopefully we will get some drying time and they will improve by next week.

The route will be a few times around the bike loops on top of Zuriberg, then we will ride over to Adlisberg and take a trail down to Burgweiss. The trails on Zuriberg are split up like ski pistes (Blue, Red and Black), but all join together at the end of each section. So it is possible for the group to ride together but do slightly different difficulty sections. We will aim to be back at Burgweis just as it gets dark so bring some lights to ride back home through the city.

If your interested in coming sign up. Remember to bring your helmet.

Small Print: We will be riding on singletrails, so minimum requirements are a reasonable mountain bike with knobbly tires.

Anyone participating in the EF rides are doing so at their own risk.

@ Remember to bring your helmet..I know where thats coming from

It was fun yesterday..for novices like me ..a good bike, a helmet for sure, some skills and balls ...all will come handy.

will join again for sure, but hope that the trail gets dry..which doesn't look to happen that soon.

Don't worry, you did well last night. The learning curve is quite steep at the start as the skills start to build up. It gets easier.

Re: [Zurich]Mountain Bike (MTB) Meet Up 8th April 2008

I just checked the weather, and Tuesday is looking like 13deg and dry. The trails may be still a little damp, but hopefully peoples enthusiasm won't be!

Dig out the bikes and come play on Tuesday evening.

Should have gone to Ticino with you. Me and my bike returned from our ride today apprx 20kg heavier than we left... It's going to take quite a bit of effort to get it cleaned up for Tuesday.

OK I'm certainly going to be there. Just planning my travel - how long does the ride up to the zoo take from the main station?

Hi Eire

I won't be able make this trip but definitely be out with you guys in the future.
Is there some kind of maps or anything where you can see the trails or did you guys just pick up these routes with experience?

Cheers

Brian

I'm confirming my attendance too.

Ride to the zoo from HB should take a little over 30 minutes. But maybe someone more versed in the routes might be able to give a better answer.

Hi Brian,
I am not sure if the trails are on the singletrail map or not I will have to look when I get home to see.

The trails on top of Zuriberg are all marked on a map up there and signposted. We will generally do the official trails and maybe mix it up a little bit depending on condition of the trails and the level of participants. Once things start to dry up a little we will probably shift to Uetliberg.
This user would like to thank Eire for this useful post:

I'll try to remember to bring my tracking GPS to record the route, as it will be new for me as well.

Re: [Zurich]Mountain Bike (MTB) Meet Up 8th April 2008

Better late than never.... Tuesday nights MTB ride went ahead and 5 of us had muddy fun. The trails are still a bit muddy IMHO, but enjoyable none the less. I'm happy that I'm slowly getting over my fear of pointing my bike down a steep descent Bring on the dry trails and longer, lighter evenings.

I mapped the ride with the GPS and uploaded it here. I wont give a blow by blow description as we did a lot of circles exploring the northern area, followed by a mix of gravel fire-trails and muddy single track.

Similar to Yokine's but including the ride up to the zoo from the station. No ride this Tuesday but I/we'll be back on the 22nd.
