Mountain Bike Meet 13th May 2008 [Uetliberg]

Last weeks ride had a great turn out, maybe we can beat it next time. :D

The current run of good weather looks like it might stay for a while so see you all again on Tuesday at Triemli.

We will ride up from Triemli, enjoy the view for a few minutes and then head down the Antenna trail. We will aim to get back to Triemli just as it gets dark so bring some lights to ride back home through the city. We can go get some Bratwurst to eat by the lake afterwards.

If your interested in coming sign up. Remember to bring your helmet.

Small Print: We will be riding on singletrails, so minimum requirements are a reasonable mountain bike with knobbly tires.

Anyone participating in the EF rides are doing so at their own risk.

The weather couldn't be better and the track was super grippy and super fast on Sunday.

But the good weather is due to end soon, so enjoy it while you can.

Did they finish the middle section? That was fun. And NO, this weather is NOT going to end soon, It's going to stay like this all summer long, so stop saying such things

They have almost finished the newly manicured section. :( But there are still some sections down the bottom which are rutted and fun. :D

Hmmmm, all summer, no rain? You are making me homesick for Australia where after a good ride you are coughing up mud from all the dust you have inhaled. :msncool:

I summoned up some pedalling power last night and did the circuit. Recent distribution of loose gravel on one section on the top third of the downhill (right turn, steep downhill with gravel, sharp left) :msnshock: Wasn't expecting that little surprise!

Yea, I was up there last night too. There is a gravel free line to the right on that section. I nearly missed it on Tuesday night, but was prepared for it last night. :D

What caught me out last week was they added two switchbacks to a section of trail that was straight on Tuesday evening. So Wednesday evening I come along confident that the trail is still straight at that point carrying a little speed... and suddenly realise the trail isn't straight anymore!!!:eek::eek: Sharp left wheels struggling for grip... too late to get a foot out... Sharp right.... oh sh!t theres a small drop before turning sharp left again back onto the old trail. Just about held it together... but it was interesting for a second!

This week they even added some small steps there to make it more "interesting" ;)

Yeah that section right before you come out on the boardwalk caught me by suprise as well, pretty steep followed by a hard left, almost went over the bars on that one. I went up today to get one last dry run before the rain. They added a little bridge on that jump right above the play ground (before the manicured section, jump (drop) is to the right) it used to be a gap but now its do-able, fun. Had to do that section twice. This time I had a lot more control in the air. (both times) My breaks still suck ass, need to order some new ones soon. We should call it the craker jack run, a new suprise with every box. LOL

Was up there just after the rain this evening. What a difference an hour makes. Top section was still fun,... the bottom section had me sliding down the trail on my a$$. My bike is nicely caked in mud now too. Think I'll be taking my road bike out tomorrow until I get around to cleaning the MTB.
