Hobbies anyone?

I've been working too much for too long and need to revisit my priorities. I'm looking to take up a new hobby. Up until now, my hobbies included reading a lot, hiking and jogging/walking. I'm always impressed by people who paint, play something but have no single artistic gene in me. I'd like to explore a few to find where my passion lies. I'm considering sailing cause I love water, nature and something fun to do.

I'm posting here to get some inspiration. So what's your hobby and what are you passionate about?

Re: Hobbies anyone?

It's hard to find time for hobbies. Now I am doing more sports as hobbies as that has the additional benefits of exercise and socialising. But there are other hobbies, such as learning an instrument which are hugely time-consuming and now I find that I just don't have time for that kind of stuff any more.

I don't have the patience nor the genes to learn instrument. I wish I had though. Agree with sports but am doing that more as a must do for the body and mind rather than fun for the soul.

Could be difficult, Iron pig is not a U-boot, beer doesn´t taste good in salt water and as for an underwater shag... How long can you hold your breath?

Re: Hobbies anyone?

Yeah, meditation sure is much better than just sitting around doing nothing.

Edit: PLEASE NOTE THAT IT'S NOT ME WHO TURNED THE INNOCENT WORD "meditation" INTO A LINK TO SOME TOTALLY UNRELATED WEBSITE! IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S THE LOCAL THAT DOES THAT KIND OF VERY ANNOYING NONSENSE!!!

NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT THEY MAKE SURE THE LINK CAN NOT BE REMOVED BY THE USER. BASTARDS!

ARE THEY REALLY STARVING SO BADLY THAT THEY HAVE TO PROSTITUTE THEMSELVES?

Edit 2: After editing the post, the link disappeared without me actively removing it, because that was not possible. It was just gone after saving the edited version. How long will it take to come back?

What are the criteria used to do such obtrusive things? Do they really believe anybody would ever buy something from a company that uses such techniques? How stupid do they think people are?

Edit 3: Now the link is back, but at least it goes to something more or less related.

Edit 4: Now, after saving the previous edit, the link is gone again. EFFINg BASTARDS!

Re: Hobbies anyone?

My hobbies: trying new recipes (some of which I make up), creative writing, motorbike riding, martial arts, cross-stitch, volunteer with a local organization that prepares and serves meals, traveling.

My problem is not the lack of interests, but the lack of time. Oh, I also love reading non-technical/non-work books and watching 1950s movies, but these activities are sadly restricted to only when I am flying nowadays

Re: Hobbies anyone?

I recently got really excited about building miniature houses. Never thought that would be interesting, but now I am seriously planning my first house. Feels cool, I recommend. Buying or making bricks, building walls from bricks or tiny timber frame, roofing, making electric lights inside. I am not a fan of furniture and things like that, I am really very much into building ))

Hmmm, does watching movies still count? Washing and cleaning my Audi R8, driving the beautifull swiss passes (gottard, klausen, etc).

Spending time with Family.

Re: Hobbies anyone?

Not surprisingly, for me it's fly fishing. And fly tying. And all the other expensive junk that goes with it.

With every other hobby, I've eventually gone through periods of lack of interest or maybe gotten bored, except with this one so I guess I'm stuck with it.
