Decided to skip Street Parade this year and organise a nice hike instead. Pretty sure the music and atmosphere keeps getting worse and worse each year anyway, and there seem to be an inordinate number of morons that come out of the woodwork the moment the sun goes down. Last year the floor was also covered in a thick carpet of glass due to people just chucking and kicking bottles everywhere, and the girls in our group had a nightmare with it.
Other than the occasional bout of photography, I really don't find Street Parade interesting any more. Same old same old.

Ok, so I've been to street parade 5 years running and I love
It. I love the music, atmosphere and it's just good fun! Most people hate it, and that's fine.....that's why I had no one to go with as all my friends are paraded out, away, or hate it. Haha.
Unfortunately I cannot go tomorrow anyway, after all of this. Gutted I can't go, but anyway. For the people that go.....enjoy!! ☺️

My employer has access to a few tickets to the Baur au Lac, where they erect a grandstand and you can actually see a lot (without getting in contact with the mob).
Usually, a number of clients are invited and it's more of a meet-and-greet customer event with champagne and canapés.
However, due to stricter anti-corruption regulations, more and more clients can't attend anymore.
I've never been there, but it's apparently quite nice.
The noise would probably kill me, though.
It's loud enough to hear it on Üetliberg and Felsenegg.
And I'm not a fan of these mass-events anyway. Weather will be great for hiking tomorrow, so congrats to those who do that.
There's usually one or two lethal accidents or manslaughters and a few hundred cuts from all the glas-shards, a couple of poisonings/ODs/bad trips/dehydrations/alcoholic poisonings from various drugs on offer (some streetworking organization has a booth where you can have your drugs tested for impurities etc.)
So, from a statistical point of view, it's rather save. Just tell the kids to stay away from any drugs (or rather just about anything sold not from an official booth) and keep the bottles with the drinks closed at all time.

Oooh !!! Well , I live near Kloten, (I don't care for the Street Parade) and we were planning to drive to Basel at 12pm , to meet a few friends, and head back at 8pm. Think it'll be ok? or are the roads gonna be clogged? Will be going with the wiffe and 2 small kids.

Shops are relatively quiet as I guess most are staying away. Air is already pretty heavy in places with the aroma of certain types of plant life.

Some shops, e.g. Manor and Coop City were closing at 6pm.

Can you imagine - live near the centre, a group of Swiss youngsters have spent the evening in a local hot-spot practicing their (very bad and drunk) yodelling. I kid not.
The techno and stuff, and people trying to find parking continues in the background...
Just love Zürich.

Good nite to all inhabitants of Zurich center with Kreises no "xyz" from peaceful and quiet Dorp in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Aargau. Hope you have a blasting cleaning day tomorrow with things coming slowly back to normal next week. | The following 3 users would like to thank jacek for this useful post: | |

But I love it (from a distance) - when I came to CH these types of things were unthinkable. Nowadays it's become an international cultural centre.

Got the boat into Bürkliplatz. Took a left and within 15 mins, we'd seen two OD's. One paramedic team were prepping an adrenalin injection and had the defibrillator on charge as back up. He was a bloody big guy and I wouldn't have liked to stretcher him out of that crowd, but they got him onto the boat even though he'd come out of the injection fighting.
15mins later, I made the mistake of stopping for a brief moment (literally seconds) to take a photo. Some kid piped up... " Move to the left! You're in my sunlight!"... My deeply buried pure Wigan kicked in she got the sharp edge of my tongue in return. To quote the ever eloquent Hughie Morgan / Fun Lovin' Criminals, "The view belongs to everyone"
That was my queue to get the hell outta Dodge, grab a large Chardonnay on the boat back to Küsnacht, followed by a glass of Seerose at Hotel Sonne, purely to redress the balance.
Never did have much patience for a bunch of straights with several pills and a few shandies in them pretending to have a good time. Roll on Friday night! To me, it was too reminiscent of any Friday or Saturday night down King Street for the last 40yrs, and not half as entertaining as Boxing Night fancy dress, which is legendary Usually get about 20,000 people rammed into one street that's only 50mts long. For Zürifest Trollefar and the Troll stayed in town, I was somewhere between Graubünden and Ticino.
