Fantastic sounding event, thank you for organizing it.

We need 10 people (apart from OH and myself) to get the group price - apart from that 10 or 30 makes no difference. So get recruiting- not limited to EF- but guided visit will be in English (well, as close as I can get to it).

It's the start of the Easter holidays here (not sure about other cantons) so it's not a good date for us.

What a great idea and right up my street too, tho' I doubt to be fit enough for long-ish walks by then.

Enjoy and have fun! I look forward to join such an outing on another date!

No need for long walk- the Museum is about 500m from the station, and the restaurant in between- we shall have 2 cars and will be waiting at the station- and one of us could walk with the group and another take anyone with walking difficulties to the Museum and drop in front of door. There is wheel-chair access throughout- with lift to all 3 floors. Children are welcome too- and they can have a cordial or other drink- there is a great non alcoholic absinthe cordial too (and a big enclosed park opposite).

By car (please have dedicated driver or stay overnight) - 1 hour from Lausanne a bit more to Bern.

There will never be a date that suits everybody- so we will run with that one. Of course another visit could be organised later this year too.

But you could cancel this visit and make another after Whitsun, couldn't you?

Easily could - but not sure if I'll be travelling then and got lots and lots of visitors throughout late spring and summer - but shall we go for that then- and cancel. Makes no difference to me. Lib, you decide.

Can we wait a week and hope we can get 10 people interested, and then cancel if we don't?

Yes- of course. Do you have people from your Bern group who might wish to come. I can see with the Neuch International Group too.

Re: Absinthe Museum visit M˘tiers, meal and distillery

My Bern dinner group can see this event as well as we can.

I see the problem is maybe people would prefer to drive to M˘tiers, but with much drinking of strong alcohol, it is best not to drink too much Absinthe.

Re: Absinthe Museum visit M˘tiers, meal and distillery

Trains are great- and just have one dedicated driver. It is also very possible to do the visit without tastings, or with just one- which is a small portion per tasting (reduced price). If one person then has the meal without wine- that is totally fine. Absinthe btw is no stronger than other alcohol- just depends on the quantity

If the start time of 11 is too early- we could start with the meal and then do the visit afterwards. Personally, I prefer it the other way round with the absinthe being the 'apÚro' - but I am flexible.

Re: Absinthe Museum visit M˘tiers, meal and distillery

Any more? If not I shall advertise it more locally to International group to get numbers up to 10+

Bring friends- this event is not exclusively for EF members, but anyone who'd appreciate a (free) guided visit in English.

Re: Absinthe Museum visit M˘tiers, meal and distillery

We've got friends visiting that week-end, so we'll give it a miss, but will happily go onto the next organised one. Would love to!

Thanks for organising this, Odile.

Re: Absinthe Museum visit M˘tiers, meal and distillery

Looks like this visit will be with very small group but will go ahead anyhow.

Will organise another one later in the year for all those who expressed interest but couldn't make the date. The 'normal' price is only just a couple of francs over- so no worries I hope.

Maybe McTavage could bring his friends to M˘tiers with him? That would solve all the problems.
