Re: Lambchop in Concert, Rote Fabrik, 24th October

Kinda off topic, but as this Rote Fabrik late October, we should think about booking a table for the Metzgete food festival night this year. We lucked out getting that table last year before Vic Chesnutt, and it was a great night all round.

Re: Lambchop in Concert, Rote Fabrik, 24th October

Saw these guys years ago at the Croc. They opened up (and were the backup band that evening) for David Kilgour of the Clean. Very weird band. Very entertaining.

How did you get to wierd? They're just a bunch of mumbling middle-aged blokes with gentle guitarres. And the do it with great style.

When I saw them, they weren't middle-aged. Perhaps it had something to do with them playing the Croc.

I <3 Alt-country. Having just seen Cat Power and Bonnie Prince Billy, this will neatly complete the hat trick

Now, how do I cope until October....

It's the weird element which makes them so attractive. The anger. The lust. The frustration. The ennui.

With cracking tunes.

Middle-aged blokes indeed...

Re: Lambchop in Concert, Rote Fabrik, 24th October

Er, just noticed the tickets are CHF33 inc. booking fee, not CHF22 as originally stated.

If you're considering attending, I recommend you get your tickets in advance. MigrosCity next to Löwenplatz in Zurich has a great ticket desk on the third floor, where they often advertise upcoming concerts long before the papers or even venue websites do.

Boing

Anybody know if the restaurant Ziegel Au Lac at the Rote Fabrik is serving Metzgete on this evening?

Would be yummy.

Anyone else up for din-dins beforehand?

Re: Lambchop in Concert, Rote Fabrik, 24th October

would love to see Lambchop or any other good band for that matter, but in fact I live in Geneva, the worst fu#"$!ng city on the planet for music concerts. I just arrived here a couple of months ago, but can some one explain to me why there is absolutely no music scene in this city???

Maybe it's because UN employees and private bankers aren't into rock music?...Not that there is much of a club scene either apart from the "Macumba"...erm.

...However I don't think it's as bad as you say it is. I think the main problem is that the associations that organise alternative rock concerts don't do enough to advertise their concerts.

You are surely already aware of the Arena:
http://www.geneva-arena.ch/programme.php
From time to time they have good stuff. E.g. Leonard Cohen, Raphael, Bénabar...

Then there are 2 associations that organise concerts at l'Usine (place des Volontaires): Le KAB and PTR
http://www.usine.ch/
Forthcoming concerts: Tricky, Daniel Johnston, Roots Manuva, The Tindersticks...

Then in November at the Lignon there is a festival called "Vernier sur Rock". Not sure what the program is going to be this year but in the past they've had good stuff like Radiohead, System of a Down...

If you are ready to move around in "Romandie" there is stuff in Lausanne (from time to time)+ 2 good alternative rock venues:

The "Rocking Chair" in Vevey:
http://www.rocking-chair.ch/

The "Fri-Son" in Fribourg:
http://www.fri-son.ch/

Then in summer there are 3 very good Festivals:
Paleo, Montreux and Avenches
http://www.paleo.ch
http://www.montreuxjazz.com
http://www.rockozarenes.com

So there might not be as much as in Zurich but there are still a few good concerts.

Well, I was considering asking you to book a table by the window, once there's some feedback. Otherwise it's me and thee...
