Asking for a friend

Why is it that so many post threads where they include the fact "Asking for a friend"? Are they really asking for a friend? What does it bring? What is it supposed to indicate? Hey it's not me. It's my friend who badly needs to know!

Likely many people have heard how toxic the EF environment is, so they depend on friends and acquaintances to pose their questions for them.

Asking for a friend.
All I can say, after consulting with my friend, the “small rodent” part of your friend’s query can be particularly tricky. The recently introduced Cricetidae consensuality clause is certainly not without merit but has equally proved sticky when individuals are questioned.

Tough questions, really tough! You, err, I mean he, could try to stalk, err, I mean make friends with a random .... who cares!
What really gets me, is that I can't handle strike through font or multi quotes

Become a schizophrenic? They're never alone.

The multiquote button is to the immediate right of the quote button. Alternatively, rightclick on the quote buttons of multiple posts and open each in its own tab, then copy/paste them together into a single reply. I often prefer the latter method and compose each reply before the copy/paste in its respective reply area, as it protects me from interfering with (and possibly breaking the BB-code of) the others. Also, preview is much more useful.

Strikethrough goes like this:
(s)stricken through(/s)
except the two bracket pairs need to be [] rather than ().

Re: Asking for a friend

A friend of mine keeps asking questions on my behalf on another forum. I'd like him to stop. What can I do?

Asking for a friend, of course. Possibly the same one.

Thanks aragly, fine with me my friend Schweizerdutch will certainly be equally happy
Question remains, why strikethrough functionality isn't included in the font section - and for some other fiddly reason I can't thank you directly => no thank/groan buttons

Yes it does, I'm sure. Maybe Urs forgot to tell you that the last one you want to quote you actually have to click quote.
Then the window opens and all the ones you chose are quoted.

Wouldn't agree. The swine recipient made good use of the pearl.

Yes you did, as if you cross it, it's no longer an emoji and shows as a simple html-error instead.
