Even if it arrives tomorrow I won't be able to read it till wednesday. | | | | |
but you will still go? Might go along myself then.
Which company did you order it from?

I think I'll read a review and still go. They have the 'look inside this book" option at amazon and it shows the first 20 pages or so.
I ordered the book from amazon.de.... cheap but apparently takes forever. | Quote: | | | | | but you will still go? Might go along myself then.

Ok, ladies and gentlemen, ashamed to say - but I am not finished yet, argh. So - do we meet up, midbook? Do we postpone it?
I don't mind meeting up midbook, or postponing, either way. Sorry we had this hanging in the air a bit past few weeks, just got so much administrative paperwork related to my studies to kill right these days, it's driving me crazy.
The book is interesting, though, gives me heebeegeebees so far...What's up with the donor biz? Sounds scary.

I was unable to order the book or even read it, I've been SWAMPED by work. I also need to setup the poll for choosing the next books.
I don't mind meeting tomorrow evening to discuss books tho', I can make it just fine.

okely dokely, the thread on selecting the next batch of books is up: Book club / Reading group in Morges / Choosing Books (part 1)
You may select as many tick boxes as you want, by try to limit your choice to 3 or 4 books (unless you really do feel like voting for them all).
Sorry for taking so long to put this list up, but like I said, I've been swamped, giving lessons to our customers and many other fun filled work related things =)
cheerio!

Curses - hubby's American colleagues have once again forgotten that Europeshire is on a vastly different time zone, and have scheduled a v important phone conference for this evening. He won't be home until gone 8pm, so I'll have to give it a miss this month.
Darn it, I'd actually read the book this time and everything! Will console myself by going to vote in Shini's lovely poll.

It was lovely to see a nice turn out last night, lovely and interesting group, nice lit talk and the muzzak has improved, hasn't it...The lights make me laugh, but, they do have a happy hour now, have you, guys, noticed?
So, what have we agreed on - next meet up, Nov 10th (same place, 7pm), we are still reading Kazuo Ishiguro, will finish it next time. Spooky. Cloney.
The voting poll is still on for the next few days, anyone wanting to participate in our book club and feels like voting for the next 2-4 books, go ahead and vote.
In between, we have a movie night. What does everybody think about a date for a movie night? (Lovely Bones, next will be Unbearable Being...a few mins before the "Unbearable" movie start, we will finish the book talk).
Alrity, have a fabulous read and see you soon.

What's happening with the French book club? I've nearly finished reading Pride and Prejudice in French (which is cheating because I've read the original so many times)... and think I might be able to cope with a proper French book if it was an easy one.
Alternatively, can we read a French book that has been translated into English so I can buy both languages?
And, most importantly, what language do we discuss in?
Still waiting for the books to come for the next meeting...

Hi all,
I found out more about the new film of Never Let Me Go. It stars Keira Knightley (Ruth), Carey Mulligan (Kathy) and Andrew Garfield (Tommy). Here's a trailer. http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/video...-me-go-trailer
Anyone up for a cinema trip?

Absolutely!
From what the trailer showed it looks like the movie won't be toooo close to the book. But still very good!

Ok, seeing as there are two books tied in first place in the poll, can some kind person make a decision about which one we need to read for next month?
Not that any of the three books have actually arrived yet but for when they do!

Hi all,
Just to let you know I can't come tonight (is it still on?), as I've had a blip and am at my parents for some TLC.
Which is a shame as I found Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close to be one of the most moving and powerful books I've read in ages and I was really looking forward to discussing it .
Never mind... perhaps we can discuss it a bit next time?

Victoria | | | | | Vic, nice you are with your family, ugh, we completely ditched that one, work/school/family..
I hope everyone is doing well and let's see if we can meet, say in two weeks? What do you all think? Calling all the fun EF bookworms...Are we sticking up to our nice poll? Foer just had out another title in English in Payot, "Eating Animals" I think it is..
Pre-xmas meet up?
