Zurich Singles over thirty hike on July 9, 2006

Dear all
I thinkit is about time to organize something for the singles over thirty, again. So, here is the deal:

Date: Sunday, July 9 EDIT: 2006
Time: Take S-Bahn 18 from Zurich Stadelhofen at 8.35, arriving in Forch at 8.56. The station is in front of the actual train station, so, we will meet in front of the McDonald's at the corner directly near the Stadelhofen station at 8.20. I will be wearing a black baseball cap.
Estimated hiking time: 3 hours, categorized as easy; I have not done the hike, but expect that regular sneakers will be fine. I would recommend to take a bottle of water, a hat and sunscreen.

Description of the tour on the web: Every so often the forests on the hilltop of Pfannenstiel open up and allow fantastic views. The panorama covers the Alps to the east, Greifensee, Lake Zurich and the
peaks of Central Switzerland. Small nature reserves dot the Pfannenstiel hill range. Canyons and streams are abundant. A dense network of perfectly maintained hiking and walking paths, two cozy
restaurants and numerous barbecue places have made this region a favorite among the locals looking for a contrast to the city's hustle and bustle. I have not done the hike, so I have no more informaion.

There is a very nice Badi in Männedorf where we can go swimming afterwards if we feel like it. Or we can take a boat to Küsnacht and have lunch at the Sonne or take a two hour boat ride back to Zurich. It will probably be best to decide on the day, as I know that most of you want to stay flexible. Unfortunately, that also means that we will not be able to fix plans with non-hikers.
Way back: Train: 25 minutes (twice an hour), or boat (almost 2 hours)

Bad weather alternative:
We could either go to the Matisse exhibition in Basel or to the new Kunsthaus exhibition in Zurich, both of which are supposedly very good.

Anyone interested?
Britta

I think when Britta says single and over thirty she doesn't really mean it, do you Britta? I think that's just how these events started out.

Britta has asked me to post some clarification on this. She can't post from work due to restrictions from their firewall (boo, hiss), here's what she posted:

Quote:
Generally, the events that are announced as single
events are only for singles, to give us a chance to
meet new people who are not in a relationship and to
spend some time not being the fifth wheel on the
wagon. However, based on the popular demand of a lady
with a sense of humor, this one will be open to all.
Two conditions, though: No heavy smooching, and every
non single has to bring a single (just kidding).
Nicky: I look forward to meeting you.

She's normally serious about the 'single' qualification. I like to think that she doesn't really mean you have to be over thirty. Of course, I am over thirty, but the others . . .

Um, anyway, I'll be joining the hike tomorrow.

Were you single in July 2006 ? If so, then you could have gone. I think by now they have all pulled.

You're gonna have to get that time machine fixed if you want to become unsingle.

Re: Zurich Singles over thirty hike on July 9

Well, lawfrwench, would have been great to have you with us, but it is true - the hike was in 2006 - as were all other events I posted.
But I am sure someone else will organise something. There is also an expats group that organises hikes almost every weekend, the details have already been posted.
Have a good one
