What are you up to on New Year's Eve? [ringing in 2010]

Hey everyone...

What are you up to on NYE?

I assume most Swiss are "staying in" so what do the expats do?

Anyone got any good ideas of things to do?

I wish I knew the same Swiss as you - we've been to the same Swiss friends' place for the past three years and I am always nursing the worst hangover ever after crawling in at 4 am not really remembering half of what I did or said.

Why can't some Swiss just play by the rules and be quiet and reserved??!

Yeah, I kinda prefer the more personal party thing, as mentioned, with large hangovers and loads of fun. When you look at your camera the next day and can't remember the actual happening of half of the pictures.

Hey.

For new year's we were tired to go the same friend's place for 3 consecutives years. So because its a new decade we thought we would do something grand even if we have to paaaay and we will be doing this at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva
Good view point for the firework!!

Skiing... oh no, thanks. But a posh party at the Kempinski sounds good. You renting the top suite?

Re: What are you up to on New Year's Eve? [ringing in 2010]

I had a grand old time last new years, but unfortunately seems like it'll be pretty crappy this time around.

Unless I get some last minute invitation, I probably won't be doing zilch.

Nothing really interesting...

Re: What are you up to on New Year's Eve? [ringing in 2010]

Same as the last 3 years... eating great food all eveninand heading to the stable before midnight to drink champagne with lots of friends to keep an eye on the animals (they don't like the fireworks that all the villages down the Flumser valley set off just after midnight!). Hopefully it will be snowing too.

Re: What are you up to on New Year's Eve? [ringing in 2010]

Good food (US filet from Migros), a bottle of good French wine, a glass of Rémi Martin XO and a cuban cigar after dinner. Shoot up a single "rocket" at midnight, and then to bed. Boring I know, but nice.

Re: What are you up to on New Year's Eve? [ringing in 2010]

I've been super hungover on every New Years day for a long long time. Probably a sign of what the year entails. This year, I'm going to try and do something that doesnt involve excessive drinking, or better yet, no drinking to start 2010 right. hmmm

Not sure what yet though!
