Re: Basel Dragons running club

Hi,
Has Basel running club now become a commercial entity? I see it has corporate sponsors ("specialist running shoes from serious manufacturers" no wonder ) and significant fees involved, so I thought it must be posted in commercial calendar? Just a thought.

Re: Basel Dragons running club

Nope, it is not commercial. Yes it has a fee, but the amount is tremendeously low and more or less just covers the renting the clubhouse for two evenings a week, thereby facilitating a lot of people to come.

and 'corporate sponsors' is more to keep the fee even further down and trying to get benefits for the runners by representing them as a group. The official registration they have is logical, as people at some stage don't want to stay personally liable and responsible for the money that goes around

And having run with the Basel Dragons, it is:
55% sportive / 55 % social / -10 % commercial
(due to an injury i only go for the social part and a beer)

(but yes there should be a way to get their running times on the calendar without being entered as threads in the forum)

I am merely referring to the propriety of posting it in social calendar; it has nothing to do with how well managed or cost effective the service is. As I understand the policy

"Social or Commercial?
The first thing to do is to decide whether it's a social or commercial event. In short, if you're organising a get together and not charging for it, then it's probably a social event. If you're advertising your business, charging a fee or hoping to sell something, then it's a commercial event."

"Examples of commercial events are comedy nights, wine tasting, salsa class and advertising concerts. This also includes clubs that charge for events or membership fees."

Having said that, if the club is helping lots of people, then maybe the policy can be amended to accommodate this club, or make an exception.
