City/Town: Basel
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: museums, bars...

Remember all the free tickets that the Kanton gave us when we did the anmeldung and asked for the permits in the immigration office?

You probably didn't spend a single one, did you? Well, we've 4 days off and plenty of things to do. I've 2 or 4 tickets for every museum (and many other things) in Basel and thought that it would be more interesting to share them instead of going alone!

Specially interested in the following:

Fondation Beyeler
Scweizerisches Architekturmuseum
Vitra design museum
Skylounge - Bar rouge (on top of Ramada tower in Messeplatz)

But there are also other things like:

Kunsthalle, Kunstmuseum, Rundgang in Basler Rathaus, Rundgang around Basel, Getränke und Snacks in BFA-Jugendtrffpunkte, Theaters, Stadtkino, Zoo, Boat trips...

If you have the free tickets, that's a good opportunity to use them. If you don't have any, I've plenty (had to go twice... ) so you can join anyway.

I hope that some of you stay in Basel these days and join! Just propose an activity, a date and a time and we can arrange the event. Activities not related to the free-tickets are also wellcome
RSVP'd Yes: 2 (2 members and No guests)
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

Funny you should do this; earlier today I flicked through my list of vouchers too as I'm wondering what to do tomorrow (Friday) and Monday. I checked a couple of museums and they're shut tomorrow, so Monday does seem the best day.

I'm interested in modern and contemporary art and design. Again a coincidence, as it means I'm interested in the same museums you are. I'm not sure if I have a voucher for it but I also want to visit the Museum für Gegenwartskunst (part of the Kunstmuseum).

I'm interested in all the other museums too! The vouchers don't expire until the end of 2012 so there's no hurry.

Good! So shall we visit Beyeler Foundation on Monday for example? And maybe also the Architekturmuseum or the Gegenwartskunst if we have time. The Vitra museum is in Weil am Rhein... so it would take a while to get there. It seems interesting though...

Anyone feels like going to the zoo, to the stadtkino, to have a drink in the Bar Rouge (I've heard it's worth a visit)or any other activity on friday, sunday or saturday?

I'm up for the free drink (and whatever else it inludes; I think it translates as "bar snack") tomorrow; I'm not around Sat or Sun.

How come you have two booklets?

I bought my monthly ticket (u-abo thing) today but used the machine, so paid the standard 67Fr. I forgot about the 30 or 35Fr discount in the booklet! It's only valid for 6 months, too, which is annoying as I plan on buying a bike soon and not using the tram any more.

I've two booklets because I had to go twice, there was some document missing. I think the girl felt a bit guilty, so she let me keep the vouchers but asked me to hide them in my rucksack so nobody would see them

Drinks tomorrow then! feel free to propose the time and a place where we can meet.

Ok, so just in case somebody decides to join us in the last moment, we're meeting in Marktplatz tram stop at 18:30.
See you there!

Re: Spending the free tickets we got when we did the "Anmeldung" | 02.04.2010

At the end we did go to the rouge-bar... the problem is that the voucher was for the sky-lounge, which happens to be a different place, so we had to pay 10CHF for a beer! Anyway, the view and the conversation were worth it.

I'm going to Vitra design-museum tomorrow (sunday), anybody interested in coming? I supose that some will be busy with a hangover, as I read something about a party tonight Have fun!

I think it's fantastic that Basel gives these when you move there. Zürich hasn't given me anything the cheap B******s!

Yes, especially as I actually left the country over most of the weekend so didn't go to any of the museums.

Actually... I must confess that I was looking for the Schwizer Architektur Museum for two hours but couldn't find it. Eventually I gave up and went to Vitra Design Museum instead. I still have all the rest of the vouchers so feel free to propose a date and a time

Cheers!

Well i will be busy building Ikea furniture this weekend (all are welcome to help!). So how about the weekend after, 17-18 April? We could meet in the afternoon, go to a couple museums and then out for a drink. I might even have these tickets you speak of if i search through my immigration package

Re: Spending the free tickets we got when we did the "Anmeldung" | 02.04.2010

I'm currently free this Sunday, but not next weekend. If I decide to hit a museum on Sunday I'll post back to this thread. To be honest, I'm happy to walk around museums on my own, but need someone to meet afterwards so I can make stupid comments about the stuff I saw inside ;)

Perfect, we can meet one of these days (17/18) or any other weekend if you prefere.

I might be able to help you with the furniture but only on Sunday, as I'd like to attend the BBQ tomorrow. Hope to see you there
