I hope it's played for laughs, nothing too serious...

Edit: for, er, clarity and typos...

Re: NL Texas Holdem'

Playing for real money outside a monitored, licensed casino is highly illegal in Switzerland, and persons involved are liable to fines of up to 500,000CHF.
Article 56 Swiss Gaming Act

Any arrangements made here publicly on this forum must be explicitly for amusement purposes only (no money) in order to protect Mark and the English forum. If the house rules change on the night (or by PM) well that is beyond EF control and liability.

I therefore ask all people who have posted to remove references to real money from their posts in this thread, otherwise they will be deleted for you.

indeed; perhaps the players can visit a toy store and get replacement Monopoly money packs - or bet their clothes?

I agree... we can play for "monopoly money" ....

we can discuss that further when we have sufficient people and can organize something...

Re: NL Texas Holdem'

Location could be an issue, especially with you being in Basel and most of the peeps being in Zurich.

I was also wondering whether you could play cards in a bar. Is there a law on that (ie assuming it isn't for money), or is it down to the landlord?

The other day I bought a nice 300chip poker set in Lindau for 50EUR, but I saw the same set discounted here for 50chf. Aluminium case, 11.5gr chips, 2 decks of cards, dealer button, etc. Everything you need.

Re: NL Texas Holdem'

Only shit thing about these sets are the plastic coated cards, they don't last long and are crap to shuffle. I am going to see if I can get hold of some COPAG full plastic cards in poker size.

Re: NL Texas Holdem'

All plastic coated paper cards are...sorry to say...crap. Painful to shuffle and they simply don't last like PVC cards.

Even better than COPAG, found where you can buy Naipes Fournier cards in Switzerland. They are pretty much the best PVC cards on the market. You can get them here in poker size.

Let's not get off topic here now...

Zürich would be central, but I don't know where. Somewhere without windows.

Of course its play money. If you've been trained by me then you would not want to risk anything real!
