Special screening AVATAR in 3D

Hi,

Dont know if its still possible but never got to see this movie in 3D in the cinema. Would like to organize a special screening, but think I'd need about 50 like minded adults to join me.

Anybody interested. No plans as yet, may not even be possible... and ok it is out on DVD in the coming days, but still would be great to see at the flicks no.

Post here if you been interested, would likely be in my local theatre Zug/Zurich way.

If Zug will do it then I'm in. Doubt you'll get enough from EF though

Re: Special screening AVATAR in 3D

I read that it's going to be re-released in cinemas this summer with 6 minutes of extra footage.

Here you go - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8634216.stm

I have no idea if this applies to Switzerland though.

My Wife and I really want to see it. We are in Zurich, but would go to Zug.

Put us down for 2 people, depending on date(s).

Re: Special screening AVATAR in 3D

It might be easier to go and see the film in on of the cinemas that are still showing it. The closest one showing it in English is the Metropol in Zürich.

Re: Special screening AVATAR in 3D

I saw Avatar at the Metropol in Zurich and it was pretty good. I like it, coz the cinema has a lot of space for each person. I would be up for the movie as well... depending on the date and time of course ....

Left the cinema after 30 minutes of watching it. I don't consider myself too picky but I thought that the whole concept and script was too rubish. I can't understand why so many people like this silly movie.

Cos it looks sooo good is why people like it , who cares about plot, honestly if you knowingly fork out the cash for a film about 9 foot blue people with flying lizards and floating mountains and come out dissappointed thinking it is silly, more fool to you, whatl were you expecting, a meaningful discourse of life, art and suffering in a post-modernistic landscape..please put the film into its context, something for entertainment, nothing more, nothing less.

Re: Special screening AVATAR in 3D

Talk to the Zug Kino, they have their doubts that they will re-release the movie (even with 6 more minutes ) given the DVD sales.

Said they would put on a special screening, but want a guarantee of at least 66 seats sold; although it may be a number I can negotiate a little lower with luck; doubtful if they would drop below 50...

Will ask around, I count about a 10 here.

Re: Special screening AVATAR in 3D

Why don't you just do it in Zurich? It's not THAT far

PS: if there's no drinking involved I doubt you'll get 66 EFers out to Zug

I don't expect anything too meaningful, but some effort at plot, characterisation, acting etc. would have been appreciated. Even if the 3d effects are clever, the visual design of the the giant smurfs and their ecosystem is cheesy beyond belief. I'm not at all against Hollywood blockbusters or mainstream films, they don't have to be this toe-curling and boring though. In addition, I think Cameron did want us to get some meaning out of it anyway . . . all the enviro-, tribal, anti-corporate, Gaia stuff.

Six minutes more to come? NO!!!!!

Anyway, sorry to put a rant into the middle of someone else's efforts to organise a showing. When we had the original thread on this I hadn't seen it.

My husband and I would be interested in seeing it. I was starting to feel like we were the last 2 people on the planet who hadn't yet.

My husband and I are in too, so count us for the Zug screening. Any chance on getting an Imax? Good luck and fingers crossed!

Nearest IMAX is Lucerne, and they never showed Avatar. Was very strange and there must be more to that story.
