Meeting Point: KartBahn

ok is anyone up for some on track karting action?

http://www.kartbahnwohlen.ch/

track is near(ish) zurich and baden, outdoors, petrol karts. They won't let you race on the hire karts so it would need to be fastest lap.

(well you can race, but they wont allow you to start in a race fashion, they stagger you out of the pits, if your sly eveyone just does a rolling start, bunches up on the first lap then goes for it)
Time and date to be arranged, Need to get a feel for the numbers before I book the track, will be a weekend rather then a week night.

Update - Track is booked for Sat 28th Aug 1pm, you need to be there at least 20 mins before
RSVP'd Yes: 7 (5 members and 2 guests)
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

Re: Karting At Wohlen

just to add, if you can get to zurich / baden then I can give you a lift to the track. I think I'm right that its the only outdoor track in switzerland where you can hire petrol karts.

Re: Karting At Wohlen

depends on what we want to do, the fastest karts are
48.00 SFr. for 15 mins the normal karts are 37chf they have helmets and overalls there, I think you need to buy a balaclaver if you use one of there helmets which is about 5chf (but you keep it)

if we can get enough people together we can hire the whole track and have a proper race, for this we would need around 20 people and the costs would be around 70chf I think (its been a while since I arranged one of these) but for that you would get an hours racing.

The only down side with that is people would need to pay upfront as I've arranged a few of these before and people pull out at the last minutes and everyone else ends up paying more.

Fimmelsberg looks cheaper. 10 drivers for 20-lap race for 300CHF. Never been there though

Re: Karting At Wohlen

NOTE

The time and date ARE NOT FIXED! as soon as we have a feeling for the numbers I'll check with the track what times and days are available. This track hosts proper championship races so it not available for the public all the time

fast enough to scare yourself with

website says 90kph, in reality I'd say 60-70. 90kph would be when they where brand new being driven by someone who knows the track inside out using race tyres etc

Re: Karting At Wohlen

We've done a few karting days at Winterthur, (about 10 of us), so I reckon 20 will be a fairly easy number to achieve.

sure, just make sure you tell them they are no2 drivers and must move over to let team mates passed

the track is plenty wide enough for people to overtake safely. and I assume people wont think they are senna and start bumping people off

Surely Plato/Jackson/Priaux/Huff would be better names to mention

Or Barth if you want to get Swiss about it. He pulled off a rather tasty nudge on Huff at Marrakech

Should we work on "racing excuses"?

Phew - I'm not the only ones whose kart was lacking top end grunt, and whose tyres went off way too quickly - or who found the front a little too stiff - or found it difficult to adapt to no LSD - and had a lot of traffic
