Argus, do you actually exist? Or are you simply a figment of my imagination?

Well, your cookies exist, anyway, and they were fab.
[ps do you 'just' use ginger powder or was there crystallized ginger involved?]

Re: (Unofficial) Thursday Night Drinks at the Viadukt Market

Goodness, the cookies were fabulous. A couple of hippies joined us at the bar. Clearly they were high as kites. On eating an offered cookie, both wanted to pay for the experience. They gave us CHF200! As a result, we all drank for free until 02:00. Thank you, whoever you are...

Errm, seeing as your post is stamped 23:28, either the cookies were SO good or the hippies were SO stoned or the beer was SO free that you were able to breach the space-time continuum. To whit, I give you the quote of the day:

It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth. --George Burns

Jeesh, sorry I left early....

It seems there may have been more than just ginger in those cookies.

Seriously though, a great evening. I never got to really enjoy the Wednesday drinks at the HB as I had to pack up and go at 8.30. This new venue allows me to enjoy the bar, beer, company and view. Especially from the naughty boys corner.

All of the above.

That was great. Pure indulgence, and my oh my it felt good.

Lovely cookies, cheese, people, atmosphere, bartenders and wine.

This reviewer gives it two thumbs up.

Only ginger, cinnamon, clove and cardamom powders. Oh, and maybe a tiny bit from the jar labelled 'crystal meth' since the jar labelled 'crystal ginger' was empty.

You said 7pm and I only left at 7.30. I live so far away I had to go home the minute I got there. And, yes, I'm a bit of a figment in the season of figs.

P.S. Were there really any cookies left for Uncle to give to the hippies? Thought Summerrain was scarfing quite a few. :P

porky pie! porky pie! porky pie!!! ((I have to tell myself that or I'll feel like a right loser for leaving so early.)

Thanks argus. The cookies were fantastic. Couldnt taste the difference in those you claimed were underbaked at all! They were almost finished by the time I left. The boys...(well mainly one actually) were using it to tempt the barmaids and random women.

I think the two beers we were overcharged for was actually a service charge for my excessive staring at the barmaid.

There was no randomness involved at all. We were very targeted.

There's no time for random women when the best is serving you beer.

IIRC, ginger and cinnamon are up there alongside nutmeg in what are often affectionately known as the Household Hallucinogens

Re: (Unofficial) Thursday Night Drinks at the Viadukt Market

Well, I finally made it to the Viadukt this afternoon - but where were you all?

You could have waited a bit longer...

(and some horrible lady at the railway station was sneering - actually sneering! - at my baggy brown jogging bottoms )

Anyone fancy a beer tonight? I need one for sure. And I still have a couple of free sample packs of back bacon to give away

I'll be in the naughty boys corner trying not to ogle like Hash Brown.

Re: (Unofficial) Thursday Night Drinks at the Viadukt Market

Had a great time last week seeing old friends and finally meeting Manny Organ in the flesh. We also had the opportunity to eat at the Market Restaurant, although we couldn't get a reservation, they fit us in.

The food was very good, fresh and simple. I went with veggie sides- eating a well seasoned salad, equally tasty string beans and polenta. Across the table, monsieur thoroughly enjoyed his liver and well made roesti (buttery and delicate). The chocolate cake is to be avoided though- the genoise base tasted industrial and dry.

We had ordered a bottle of red at the bar where they have a limited wine list and enjoyed an even better one at the table (from the complete list).

I will eat there again.

Not tonight Over indulged in a package received from home yesterday and have been feeling quite sorry for myself since last night. Dont think alcohol is quite the cure. Happy (subtle) ogling.

Re: (Unofficial) Thursday Night Drinks at the Viadukt Market

Me neither. Had too much pineapple-prawn curry, coconut rice, Filipino-style mackerel with calamansi, etc, etc, yesterday. Tried to brisk-walk off a few of the calories today. Plus, cat is coming home this evening, so mouse has to stay home to look busy tossing the salad.
