Geneva social events on Friday evenings

Ok it's time that somebody propose this kind of stuff in Geneva, so newbies and ancients can meet.

I'm not a pub connoisseur so if you know a nice place where we can sit, have beers and chat nicely, just tell about it.

I think Fridays good days for that.

Your ideas and suggestions about it are welcome, as I'm totally not at my ease in organizing this kind of stuff.

Ok, if somebody in Geneva want to do something on an evening but has no company and want some, just pm me.

I will be glad to join if I can.

IMHO, reading what members post / discuss on glocals and what members post / discuss here, i would say you're a winner to be banned from glocals, dunno why but discussions there are so superficial and shows nothing but low IQ level

Not everybody can make as sophisticated Muslim bashing threads as we do. It's a skill actually.

It's all about freedom of speech and the large scale debates on EF, this is just so great, way better than senseless discussions on GL

Agree about members posts, but Glocals great for the events if you're in Geneva. I guess Staff members are perhaps a bit more strict there than here.
And Oded doesn't like me.

As EF is great if you are in the Swiss-German part.

Seriously Bertrand, i have been at couple of their events, it was nothing but punch of show off small minded people, though there was couple of nice one's that i spent the night talking to.

I think also it's a bit fact about expats in Geneva, they have totaly different lifestyle / mentality, not sure if it's the environment / surrounding or they come this way from their countries.

Well, in any large gathering you are going to get some people you like and some you don't. I've been to several events - some excellent (Comedy Improv, Hallowe'en party) and some less so (Karaoke) and I've heard good things about the book groups if thats your bag. Bottom line is, if you want to meet like minded people sign up and go along and worst case, you will probably meet a couple of people you get on with.

Or announce an event yourself. I've tried this a couple of times, failed but then put up an announcement about a pub quiz and found an instant team, all of whom are superb guys and gals.

Not sure what you mean about Geneva expats ? Good or bad I cant compare it with any other city in Suisse but I've found it an excellent pool of people, pretty tolerant and open and up for having a good time.

Anyway, how's it going with organising the catch up? I'd be a starter and will PM you shortly. Good on you for persisting.

Re: Geneva's meet-up on Fridays evening

I am in Glocals and its the best think i ever did. True the discussions are better here but if you are in Geneva there not many social events advertised in the EF. Glocals is mainly for Geneva events and for someone who came to Geneva and knew nobody, signing in Glocals is the best think i ever did.

Im not bashing the EF mind you. Both are great but for different things if you are in the Swiss French part
