sailing in Lausanne

Any other sailors on here? I am into yacht racing, been racing all summer in LA and next year off to Cowes Week. I though I saw an Olsen 30 and a Martin 242 in Ouchy so there must be racing, but does anyone know of a good racing club here?

Suspect you'll need to get a Swiss ticket to sail here, they don't recognise most foreign qualifications. I'm a commercial yachtmaster and cruising instructor, but still need to do my D-Schein before I'm allowed to venture onto that dangerous expanse of water called the Zurisee

Re: sailing in Lausanne

I have sailed for many years and like a few friends living here have good qualifications to sail just about anywhere in the world except here.
I have heard you can get certification in Annecy or at least there is a course to get you the ticket, apparently it's cheaper than doing it here and they cater for English speakers.
I have looked for a link but cannot find anything as yet, if or when I find it I will post it here.

Re: sailing in Lausanne

Let me second the request for info about race-oriented sailing/yacht clubs. I'll be traveling to the Lake Geneva area this summer for vacation and would love to crew in a local beer can race if there are such things there.

I have tried Googling around for some clubs and have stumbled across Yacht Club CERN but no links for crew seeking a berth. Although racing is my first choice, I would also welcome info about day-sailing opportunities. My local club here in North Carolina provides a web link for visitors just wanting to take a ride. Anything like that around your lake?
