| | Any good golfers out there?
I apologize for excluding the majority of golfers out there which is why I wanted to ask the question rather than just create an event!
My husband, who is a scratch golfer and teaching professional, is missing having some other golfers to go practice/play with as he can't seem to land a job without speaking fluent German and so hasn't been able to connect with the local golf scene as of yet. The only thing is he likes to practice/play with people who are around his same ability, or better, as his practice time is for him and not for helping teach other people how to play - which he is exceptional at but outside of the time he takes to work on his own game.
So, are there any other people with a 2 handicap or less that like to go practice and would be interested in finding a time to do so with another great golfer? he's not working so his schedule is wide open and he's getting seriously bored at home or on his own at the chipping/putting greens | This user would like to thank caninsui for this useful post: | |

Nice of you to post this. I don't golf but I play basketball and I'd gladly go shoot some hoops with him.

I wouldn't mind playing later this summer with him. I haven't played in a year or so, but back when I was in school and had more time, I was a 4-5 handicap.

If he's a teaching pro, is he already a member of the Swiss PGA? Their programs are all in English and it's populated entirely with fellow playing and teaching pros. If he's a member, I believe he could then play in on the member tournaments; he'll make great contacts and possibly eventually land himself a position. Though I believe he may have to do another apprenticeship even if he's gotten his card elsewhere. Or the national affiliate program is ASG "Association Suisse de Golf". www.asg.ch swisspga.ch |

Maybe I'll tell him to call again and find out a bit more information...I don't think he'd care about stepping back into an apprentice role - he's been a pro for almost 15 years but right now he's even trying to convince courses to let him pick balls on the range so an apprentice job is a bit better than that! Thanks for the info!

| | Re: Any good golfers out there? I'm not as an accomplished golfer as your husband, however I will be moving to Basel in the summer and aim to work on getting my handicap down to something respectable. One of my main concerns was finding a pro who would teach in English.....so if he is up for some private lessons Ill contact you in the summer | This user would like to thank O'Henry for this useful post: | |

There are a bunch of us who play on Wednesdays when it's open, but if it's 2 HCP and under he will find it very difficult to find lots of playing partners.
If the goal posts change on the HCP drop me a PM.

He used to play in the men's league every week back home too at his golf course and loved it. For the practice times (ie chipping/putting) is when he really likes to have someone he can have some fun with at his level - playing with a group is fun with anyone |
