Free Beer Bicycle Ride - April 10th? (and other advice required)

So, I will be in Zurich temporarily, for the first time since extracting myself two years ago and want to go on a bicycle ride on the weekend of April 9th/10th, hoping for some company, old and new friends welcome.

My initial plan would be to start ride around 10 AM, route would like be on my old stomping grounds Pfannesteil, however depending on the weather and my fitness level, other longer routes might be considered. Ride will involve climbing but at a social pace, maybe a very social pace due to my lack of training - I am not your typical skinny cyclist, I just have alot of willpower(or so I like to pretend) and enjoy going uphill (downhill not so much). So, if you want to go fast, your going to have to wait for me at the top and at the bottom.

I can't guarantee free beer for participants but will try my best to accomodate. I am hoping for good weather but absent substantial rainfall will have a go.

I will put something in the social calendar in a week or so as date gets closer. My questions are:

- Anyone have any suggestions on where I can rent a road bike for a few days?

- Any ideas on overnite storage of a bicycle, as not sure my hotel will allow.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Freudian slip here - Pfannenstil = Panhandle, Pfannesteil = Steep pan! Have fun going up the steep bits.

Probably or just two years away, though not sure I ever spelled it correctly.

Unfortunately, I'll be in Tirol with some knobbly tyres that weekend. Pity would have been cool to catch up with you again. Any plans to come back again?

First off, am jealous even with knobby tires, I love the Tirol . I will also be around the following Saturday (the 16th) if you around, could figure out something to ride. It is likely I will be back again sometime in the future. So otherwise, see you the next time.

Certainly, will do sometime, not sure about lac leman, but need to explore the 'hills' in your area some day.

Back to my original question, thinking of renting from Tempo Sports in Thalwil, anyone used them? Any other alternatives?

Also, thinking of moving this ride to the 16th as might try to get somewhere more picturesque on the weekend of the 10th.

Re: Free Beer Bicycle Ride - April 16th? (and other advice required)

Back in ZH and the weather gods have listened to my special request.

If anyone is interested in riding in the Walensee area on Sunday, let me know. I have not yet decided which climbs I will try (but as fitness is not good, probably will keep it gentle - malbun probably not).

When you say "probably not", it means you are secretly wishing someone will twist your arm, doesn't it? Then count me in!

Ok, since it's still quite early in the season, I would of course also consider joining you for some gentler climbs near Walensee. There are still plenty of roads I haven't tried in that area. Where/when were you thinking of starting?

Certainly, need some arm twisting.....I am staying out in the area so could meet at one of the train stations (Sargans maybe). I need to spend some time looking at the maps tonight and will get back to you (will send you a PM).

I remember a climb on the North side of the Walensee which I really enjoyed (never made it to the top and not sure of the name but it was a kilometer before the road to Amden - a local did tell me the road turns to dirt before the top, but I never made it that far as it was steep.)

For anyone else interested: the plan is currently to meet at 10AM at the train station in Ziegelbrücke and start the ride from there. There will probably be some climbing involved, but the spirit is mostly to enjoy the weather and the Swiss scenery.
