| Question:
Does anyone know if SBB have lifted the ban on taking bikes on the train which goes up the Uetliberg? I have lived here for 2 years and in all that time was under the impression you were not allowed to take your bike on the Uetliberg train. Recently I have heard a number of account of people taking their bikes on the train (with all the down hill gear!). Is this just people taking a chance or have the rules changed?
It would be great if the SBB now let you use the train as a shuttle service !! | |

According to the Swiss guy I live with and a conversation we had about a month ago it is still banned.
The problem was caused by hordes of downhillers terrorising people on the Uetliberg pathways. It was just too many bikes in too little space.
So being the Swiss they are, they came up with a clever solution, you must take the bike up if you want to come down. Downhill bikes are generally heavier which means less likely for someone to ride the things up to the top.
Saying that he takes his MTB up there virtually every weekend.
