Hiring a decent road bike - Zurich

Does anyone know where/if I can rent a decent road bike (in Zurich) for a friend of mine who's joining me for the Uster triathlon this weekend?

try PM-ing ChrisW - if it's about bikes, he should know.

Are your Mrs Parckles or Mr Sparckles, by the way?

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Lob, but unfortunately I can't help much on this one. As I noted in this post in the Cycling in Switzerland thread, the main national bike rental company, Rent-A-Bike, doesn't rent road bikes. Therefore, your best bet is a local bike store or finding someone who has a spare bike (i.e., Salsa Lover). I'd know of a shop to try near Lausanne, but I have no idea about Zurich, sorry. If you do get a hold of a bike, make sure that your friend brings his/her pedals as well as shoes to ensure compatibility.

Thanks Chris. Looks like I might be out of the tri anyway after an ankle roll tonight playing indoor soccer. I'll keep looking though.

I'm interested in renting the 56cm Trek 5500. The time frame would be pick up bike 9/11 and return it 9/15 - 5 days.

Are you a dealer or individual?

Is it available, what would it cost and how would we arrange it.

Thanks

(P.S. Carrying my nice road bike via plan for only 5 days of riding is too much of a hassle)

Re: Hiring a decent road bike - Zurich

I want to rent a 54 cm road bike for 10 days. I'm around Nyon area but willing to pick up in Lusanne.

Do you know of any shops around here which can rent a decent road bike?

Can you rent me your bike if you have?

You can call me at 0767518513.

Thanks

"The Bike" in Pully, a few kms east of Lausanne, rents road bikes, and the owner even speaks English (he's originally American). Otherwise, ask at any of the larger bike shops and they may be able to help you. When do you need the bike for? If you need it for this weekend, then you'll probably have a problem due to most of the road bikes in the region being rented for the CycloTour du Leman event.
