If you go down on this list, you have a few links concerning Hockey.

Although, you're coming to CH from Canada, where ICE hockey is very big in both countries, and this could be assumed in your request, a certain ambiguity has been introduced, with your mention of English hockey clubs.

[Do you mean English Hockey clubs, or English (speaking) Hockey Clubs?]

In England field or land hockey is predominantly played, but less so here.
Also indoor hockey (Uni-hockey), with or without roller-blades is also popular.

As your soon arrival coincides with the end of the ice-hockey season and beginning of the other types, it is probably useful to specify/confirm in exactly what form of hockey you are interested.

If you are referring to ice-hockey, then because of the closed season, this could surely await your arrival for you to investigate once here?

I am not from Geneva, so don't take my opinion as fact, but you're unlikely to find an english hockey club of any kind except maybe pickup teams at the adult level.

What you might be able to find, with some research and correspondence, is a kids hockey club with a coach who is willing and able to coach your son especially in english. He would probably do alright in french too since kids pick up on things fast, as long as the team is friendly. I started playing here in Zurich (as as adult) when my swiss german was beyond terrible but I managed ok. In practice I would just watch what everyone else did first.

All hockey arenas have junior hockey teams. From my understanding, your son would be in the "Bambini" age group which is about equal to Novice and younger in Canada. My french is terrible so I am not very good at locating specific information, so I hope your french is better than mine

Here is the site for the Geneva Servette junior teams:

When someone from Canada asks about hockey, they only ever mean ice hockey. In Canada there is no other kind of hockey (there is of course, but then they're called field hockey, roller hockey, or ball hockey).

I realised as much, but just wanted to point out that this isn't Canada (although the same probably applies here), and maybe some reading the original request won't automatically make the same assumption.

And, as I wrote above, there will be time to look into this once they're here, and didn't see the urgency.

[Unless they play "hockey" all year long in Canada]

The junior clubs are all organized through the NLA teams, so go to Geneva Servette and and they will get you in touch with the team that fits the right age group. There is sure to be another English speaker on the team, and likely the coach will be at least bi-lingual.
