Zurich is one big street park. Everything here is so smooth with curbs, rails, ledges and drops galore. However I gave up street skating when I was around 23 as I stopped bouncing off of concrete. Now I make a loud thud followed by me picking myself up and going home. Now I only skate my longboard, pools, bowls and parks that have good flow, none of which can be found here in the zurich region. The "best" indoor park will be in Winterthur, But I don't pay to skate. (train ticket + entry fee = not for me)

The good news is that next year they will open a real skate park in Shil City with bowls, street and whatnot. My only hope is they have a pro skater there when they pour the concrete to make sure all the transitions and angles are right on. ( I have skated parks which were unskatable because the city trusted a contractor to make perfect transitions) The city of Denver hired Tony Alva (Dogtown Z boy) just for this reason, which is why Denver has one of the best parks in the world. I hope Zurich does something similar.

Re: Skateboard partner

Yeah thank for reply , I have got just one questions what about cops in Zurich and skateboarding do they problems when you ride on skateboard over the city or it all okey ?

The worst think in the world is skateparks where you must pay, I lived in UK in the Manchester and there were all skateparks payedand damn with it.

But I readed that there is Zurich freestyle hall not far away from trains station and the next skatepark is near too, somewhere on Sihlquai under the bridge.

Re: Skateboard partner

I've also given up the street-skating (although I still longboard) but there are little skateparks I've seen a couple of different places. One is next to the Limmat, on the same side as the Nierderdorf, right at the place where the Sihl and Limmat meet (down from the Landesmuseum). The other, and bigger one, that I have seen is in Kreis 4, in the park that is between Langstrasse and Feldstrasse, on Dienerstrasse. They have some small ramps and some rails -- there are always lots of people skating there.

There are quite a few spots with ramps and rails but they are mostly one trick wonders and you get bored quick. I would call these skate spots, not parks. There are a few indoor parks, the best being in winterthur, but I dont like skating on wood too much as they use super slick ply. If you skate indoors then get some really soft wheels. I have never been to the freestyle halle as I have heard it is always crowded. Plus its wood, plus you have to pay. I will wait for Shil to be built, for now I am satisfied with longboarding and downhill mountain biking.

As far as the police are concerned they will leave you alone for the most part unless you are waxing up a ledge in a busy area or if a resident makes a noise complaint. Like all places its best to find a spot in a industrial zone. I am still waiting for this park in Shil to be built before I buy a short board.

Re: Skateboard partner

I haven't touched my skateboard for 6 years now but this thread and the nice weather makes me want to go out and try it again. I was never any good though but I guess I can still do some basic flips and grinds. If you don't mind to skate with an old guy who is out of breath after 10 minutes then I am definetely up for some rolling!
