Fitness Centre in Zurich

So, my beloved(?) McFit is closing down, and I'm looking for a new fitness centre/gym. Can anyone recommend one in the same kind of area (i.e. roughly around HB)?

Is anyone here a member of either Vif or Activ Fitness (esp. the one at Selnau Bhf) and can give me their impressions?

Ta muchly.

Re: Fitness Centre in Zurich

I just moved to Westside - more a pain to get to - BUT handy for drinks afterwards at the Viadukt - and I prefer the atmosphere to that of Silhouette.

It is also cheap!

Looks good, ta. The price seems about the same as the others around there though, not especially cheap.

It might just be a bit out of the way for me, because it's up round the back of the train station somewhere by the look of it. That's important for me, because I'm basically a lazy git - if I don't have to pass the place then I'd probably not go.

Re: Fitness Centre in Zurich

I had a "Probetraining" at AF today. I think it's safe to say I won't be taking out a membership there.
  • No drinks.
  • A rushed introduction presented in broken German (okay, I can forgive the latter, mine's not perfect either, but then again I don't work in a customer service job).
  • Trying to put me on some beginners programme when I've been training regularly for the last two years or more.
  • The feeling of being on some kind of farm along with the other animals
Really. No thanks.

@Mods: you can close this thread if you want, I found somewhere I'm happy with (Vif Fitness Club).
