Watersports on Lake Thun

Hello everyone. My family and I just relocated to Goldiwil, which is on the hill above Thun. We are big watersports fans and want to know if anyone knows a good place along the lake for boat rentals, kayaking, sailing etc.. Thanks so much. This is such a beautiful place and we are so excited to start our lives here.

Re: Watersports on Lake Thun

to Thun!

The views of the lake from Goldiwil are stunning, lucky you!

There are plenty of options available, maybe try the Segelschule Thunersee in Hilterfingen or the Thunersee Yachtclub in Gwatt for sailing. Wakeboarding and wakesurfing are very popular, most people I know go to Wakeboardschule in Gunten to get their lake fix.

Can't really help you with kayaking, but I'm sure if you follow the links in my post you will find people who can.

Feel free to PM if you need any more help.

Hi there,

If you're still interested in Kayaking, I run a small kayak school in Interlaken, running tours and coaching on Thunersee and Brienzersee, and training for white water, sea and surf. I also rent out top quality sea kayaks by arrangement. You can find more info on my website:
www.hightide.ch

Cheers,
Dave

Re: Watersports on Lake Thun

I personally know the couple who run Segelschule at thunersee. His name is Hempel and his wife Bridget. Hempel used to be in the Swiss ski team so this guy has a top notch work ethic. He designed the small sailing boats too! Those ones are used to train adults. All equipment is in excellent order. Segelschule Thunersee
They also have optimist dingys which are superb for the kids to learn with. During the summer they have courses with the optimist dingys that run for a week with a lunch trip on the opposite shore to clebrate the end of the course. The course covers practical and theory. My son did this course last summer.

Hope this helps you out.

Re: Watersports on Lake Thun

what a perfect topic for a beautiful spring day... I think I might have acclimatised enough for a swim in the lake this year.
