| | Crossfit Zurich
Hey,
I'm moving to Zurich in August and want to stay active with a gym membership. I am especially interested in trying out the Crossfit club in Zurich having done a couple of Crossfit intro courses in the US just to find out about the type of workout you get. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Zurich Crossfit club and also if anyone knows what their rates are. I have looked for other threads on this topic but they did not provide any answers to my question. Also I have asked Crossfit in Zurich for their rates and researched their website but have not found any information to answer my question. Therefore any helpful comments would be welcome.

Memberships range from 140-170CHF/month based on what kind of contract you sign (I am assuming). They have "intro" courses offered Tuesday nights and Saturdays mid-day that are free. I am probably going to check them out on Tuesday and can report back if you want. | This user would like to thank JLF for this useful post:

I typed "CrossFit" in to the upper right search box but only old threads came up, so thanks for the link to the thread and the price quote.
It would be nice to know how competitive the classes are and the general atmosphere of the place. From my experience in US the classes are really tough in a good way. So any feedback woul be welcome. Thanks.

Thanks, I didn't know there was another CrossFit gym available in the Zurich area. I will be sure to research them as well.

So as promised, I am checking back in after my first visit to the Crossfit Gym.
One word--AMAZING. No really. Everything hurts and I can't wait to go back. The instruction is really great and I feel like I got a whole body workout and I didn't hurt myself in the process. The first week is free, so I will go back a couple more times (as recommended--starting out, one day on, one day off) before the week is up.
The memberships/contracts are: monthly--170CHF/month, 6 months--150CHF/month, 12 months--140/month. And you can pay it all at once or monthly (price is based on which contract you sign)--he seemed really flexible on this point. Also, if you are an endurance guy/gal, there is an add on program that one of the trainers does--where he works on your form/gait with you and gives you workouts to achieve whatever long distance goals you have. I will check that out in the coming months as well b/c back in the day, I was a long distance runner and really enjoyed it (and would really like to get back into it).
Hope this helps. | The following 3 users would like to thank JLF for this useful post:

Thanks for the feedback. After reading that review and doing some more research I decided to give it a go and sign up for an intro class. Im sure the workout will kick my *ss though. Btw did the trainer give you a recommended amount of classes to attend per week? Thanks again for the feedback.

He said it also depends on the other activities you might already be participating in--but minimum of twice a week is recommended.
I am definitely going one day on, one day off to start out. And I feel surprisingly good this morning (even though he totally kicked my arse last night). Most likely, I will cross-train with running on the "off" days b/c it is a totally different type of workout. Can't wait to go back tomorrow. |

The people there have all been so nice, accomodating (i.e., taking the time to explain everything to me in English, even though I am usually the only non-German speaking person in the group!) and the workout is incredible. Reeeealllly hard for me as a mom of 2 trying to get back in shape, but just what I need. I seriously could barely walk for a week after my first class! I highly, highly recommend it!
It's also a great location for me (I live in Schwamendingen)... very close to Oerlikon at the Dorflinde bus stop.

Anyone loving the physical benefits of CrossFit training should be made aware of coach Jeff's new enterprise in Richterswil, ZH. Check out the Hillseeker Performance Lab.
Opening event was last weekend and bunch of exercises performed under Jeff's expert supervision.
Can wholeheartedly recommend contacting Jeff to get your endurance and CrossFit training program back into gear!

Hi,
I'm considering taking up crossfit here in Zurich,. I used to do it back home but haven't started here because of possibly long commute times to the gyms (can you use commute in this context?) probably resulting in going less frequently then I'd like. Also I was a bit put off by the price, but having lived here for a few months I've sort of accepted paying ridiculous prices for various things.
So how is the current status of the gyms? I know Crossfit Zurich recently moved and upped their prices. How is the new place? Is it packed all the time or? Do you know the current rate?
Also there is the Crossfit Turicum, is anyone going there? How does it compares to Crossfit Zurich with regard to "setup" (equipment, etc.) and prices?
Would love to hear something about this. Thanks!

bump up.
Just want to start Crossfit after some years of Squash experience. Anyone up for a joint start?
Also wanted to ask how the BodyBalance classes are held, is there a separate english course? How big are the groups?
The place is right around the corner so I think I'll just ask tomorrow morning... too bad the webpage is so empty/failing |

Also the "crossfit lingo" (jargon?) is quite international (the exercises are usually written in English for example).
Group size is a bit different depending on the time, generally the 18:30 lessons are the most popular (sometimes with 12+ people) but most often I end up with groups from 5-10.
It's pretty cozy actually, I recommend it.
