Can't decide! How to buy the best road bike for use in CH

Ach! I have needed a road bike to use for training and eventually racing in CH duathlons/triathlons for some time. I have been training with a friend's bike but it's a bit small and I'm ready for my own. I had this dream that I would wait until this summer and when back in the good ol USof A I'd go down to my friendly local bike shop and buy a good road bike at a good price.

Well, no one over here seems to carry much in my price range other than a woman's Trek Madone 3 or 4.5 2011. They are about $1900. One store wants to sell me a Jamis Comet 2010 for $1300, but I don't know a thing about this bike...

Given the exchange rate (my income is unfortunately in dollars for the time being ), would the bike experts out there agree that the Trek bike is a better deal than buying a similar quality road bike in CH at this time?

Also, the hassle of flying with the bike would be significant for me, since I'm bringing back a ton of luggage and one large bike in box already. Should I then have it shipped do you think?

I'd appreciate any advice you can lend! Thanks!

Have you considered buying in Germany or France in person? Depending on shop you could claim back the MWST and save even more. Or you could buy on the internet from somewhere like CRC or a German shop. You should get a decent bike for $1900.

Not sure if this is of any interest? http://www.englishforum.ch/sale-want...road-bike.html

Otherwise, I also recommend Germany. Canyon do some excellent value for money bikes. They dont deliver to Switzerland but you can collect from the border www.canyon.com

Focus bikes get good write ups back in the UK. The swiss site for them is http://www.focus-bikes.com/ch/de/bikes/bikes-2011.html

In the UK they seem to be much cheaper though so not sure how they measure up against the competition at the swiss price.

I bought myself a focus cayo http://www.wiggle.co.uk/focus-cayo-2...-compact-2011/ which is a nice bit of kit.
