| | A Gym in geneva that is NOT overpriced
Hi
I came to geneva about a week back, (I moved from california)and I ve been searching for a gym membership since. the problem is, every single gym i go to is WAYY overpriced. so I need a little help from you guys to a find a gym in geneva/meyrin that is cheap.
I already checked out sillhouette, fitness center meyrin, american fitness, california fitness. all charge atleast a 100 chf per month.
BTW i need a membership only for about 4 months

The price seems reasonable to me.
Most gyms in Switzerland are expensive.
My gym in Lausanne is spotlessly clean, the equipment is modern, the classes are good and the staff are friendly.
You need to be very careful about what is written in the contract and, if you're only here for a few months, a year's contract doesn't make too much sense, as it might be difficult to sell-on, whatever the gym tells you.

it's just the way it is. What I'm paying in Basel is about 3x what I was paying in the US for a gym membership. Too bad I won't be 3x healthier.

It can be hard to get your head around the price but when looking for a gym I also priced day memberships and individual classes (such as yoga, zumba, pilates). These were all around 20 - 25 chf per day or per class so if you use the gym at least once a week you are getting a good deal.

I paid 60 CHF but it was sponsored by my company AND you get up to 50% back from the health insurance so it is not bad...
On the other hand if you are staying here for 4 months what about getting a Wii? Just sayin'...

I was paying about $90 a month for my gym in NY, with comparable classes and equipment, so I don't really see 100chf as being unreasonable, considering that EVERYTHING costs more here. And as another poster mentioned, just take a class or two during the month, and you get even moer value.
