Do you want an evil but very efficient physio or the kind that massages you and tells you it's not your fault? | This user would like to thank Kittster for this useful post: | |

Well there are two therapists that I know, one is Ursula Müller-Schoop with the Permanence (Zurich Mainstation), she is incredibly harsh (at least to me) but also happy to address several issues without too much admin stuff. Gives you work to do at home, stuff that really works, used to specialise in sports physio. You have to call the Permance and ask what the procedure is to see her, I went after an injury.
For less harsh but also "push / hard work" are the people at Physio Kreis 6, they have their own little gym and are happy for you to come and work out on the equipment during opening hours.
Both people have a good command of English.

If you're still looking...
My boss's wife is an established physio here in Zürich with many years of experience.
You may contact (Tue and Thu only) at 044 361 5092 and ask for Sonja Keller. The practice is located at Frohburgstrasse 26, Zürich 8006. She speaks perfect english (if this is a bonus).
Hope it helps...cheers

Let me reopen the thread to ask an insurance-related questions about physios...
I got my ankle injured playing football, so I guess I shouldn't even bother about insurance, am I right?
I also wanted to ask what could be a reasonable price for a season of such a treatment in Switzerland. I'd just want to have an approximate range, nothing specific. (The price in Spain would be around 40 Fr ...)
Thanks!

I think you might be covered under your accident insurance if you are employed. I fell over while skiing and was covered by my company's "unfallversicherung" even though it was in my leisure time and my own daft fault I was walking over an icy patch in skiboots.
I was also covered when I sprained my thumb playing volleyball, also in my own time and nothing to do with work.
I got my treatment in both cases fully paid for.
Check with your employer.

Thanks!
I checked it and you're right, non-occupational accidents are fully covered.

Hi - does anyone know of a good physio near Oerlikon?
I've injured my foot and the hospital gave me a prescription for physio but I don't want to go for any old one.
Any suggestions much appreciated! |

Depends what kind of treatment you need - if it is sports, general wear and tear or recovery from a trauma injury.

Hi, your GP needs to recommend you to a physio, because then the medical insurance will cover the costs. If you go on your own then you're paying the costs (which are quite expensive). I can recommend the physio I went to this year when I had a skiing accident. His name is Sandro Fiorentin and his tel nr is 044 315 1848 . He's located in Zurich Oerlikon (in Center 11).

My insurance covers me to make appointments directly with specialists (which I have done many times over the past 8 years) but my colleague in the office is like your version where you have to go first to your own GP.

A good policy at a reasonable cost for me and my creaking bones might not be the best one for you... |

I already have the prescription note from the doctor at the hospital for 9 sessions of physio so I guess this is the same as a referral. And it was an accident that started all this off, so I'm covered by my employer! The hospital wouldn't recommend anywhere, which is why I'm doing it myself. |
