Alpenbrevet 2011

Anyone else do it? Maybe a little more energetic than the street parade

I finished the gold tour 172k, 5k vertical, 4 passes in 11h which i was pretty happy with after suffering like hell up the susten. And finding out afterwards that the clamp on my stem was broken and my headset had a lot of play in it. Both were ok on the ride I'd done the day before - so happy I didn't crash.

Emma Pooley won the gold overall in 6:48. Including beating all the men. Chapeau x10.

Also- not sure if this has been on here before but the klausenpass is motor-free on the 24 september.

Re: Alpenbrevet 2011

It was a great day out! I also did the gold tour and was happily surprised how I managed to survive it with not much prep. Only annoying thing were the motorbikes on the Gotthard descent and I got pulled over by a police man for breaking a white line..but no fine.
Highly recommend the event.

Re: Alpenbrevet 2011

I, too, did the Gold tour. It was my first ever bike race/sportive and I was surprised how pleasant something as inherently painful as a ride over 4 mountain passes could be (I guess the weather played a pretty big role in that).

I got round in 8h45mins, which I was pretty pleased with and am fairly certain to be be returning next year now I know what to expect...

All told, a top day out.

Hey man, good luck. I am sure you will be fine, better than fine. That one is on my list for some future time.
