Hi,

Was at Milandia last week and while great I looked out the window and its just perfect for outdoor climbing..... So, where can I one find information on the local crags - "local" being less than 1 hr from Zuri. I have heard about some spots e.g, Klus & Ibergeregg, and the Gallerie.... where can one access a topo of these crags, and if others are closer would love to hear from you...

just wondeering if you every found any information on good local spots? ive asked in shops, climbing halls etc but not really any the wiser. there must be something good somewhere close!

Two places within 1.5 hrs of Zurich are Chaemiloch (Schwyz) and Klus. Chaemiloch, you will find topos by googling, it is a small place (~20-30 routes), but has enough routes very closely bolted, perfect for an evening climb or winter climb (south facing).

For hotter days, Klus, has several 100s of routes in shade, also a 15 min walk from Klus train station. You will find topos in the Jura topo book available in most shops, try Baechli for example.

I will be very surprised if you didn't get info from climbing shops and halls, they are all pretty knowledgeable climbers themselves, try going with a local and they will open up.

i always ask when im already shattered from a good bouldering session, not great for attention. i climb with a zurich local but he just started recently and does nto know climbing spot. ill get him to extract more info next time i'm indoors!

i would love to find some good trad climbing somewhere tho. seems that most close-ish stuff is bolted routes. still, i will def check out the spots you have mentioned. cant wait to get outdoors properly again - thats what the sun is for

I was climbing 45 min from Zürich somewhere in Aarau, don't remember the name but it's worth a visit!
Besides this, the best thing is really take some more time and go to the bigger spots mentioned earlier.

Good information about rock climbing. I'm in the same way, looking for places for outdoor climbing...yesterday I was in Elm and in the way I saw a small place for rock climbing, very next to the road and full of people, it looks like a piramid...

What about mountain climbing? I mean, I'm thinking about to climb some mountains in Elm area, to the summit. Where could I found some information? Which mounatains in that area are the "top ones"???

I'm looking for a mountain without cablecars, roads, ski resorts, something wild...does exist something like that in CH?

This is something I do to find interesting mountain hikes mainly but I often just browse map.geo.admin.ch and look for peaks that might be interesting. Then I head to hikr.org to read more about the things I find. Another interesting resource I just found few days ago: http://www.alternatives-wandern.ch/touren.htm

Hikr.org is a good resource for mountaineering also and you can also find nice recreational climbs from Von Känel's Plaisir Alpin (http://www.filidor.ch). But just to make sure, as you don't seem that experienced, these are tours you do not go do alone (unless you are an idiot or Ueli Steck) or without proper gear and skills.
