Skiing was great today, with a lot of fresh snow . Vis was poor earlier and the wind and snow combined to make the among quite unpleasant on the glacier. Lowe down was fine and the off piste was excellent. Late on the sun came out b below Stand so was even better but it got quite sticky so we called it a say about 3.00.
Not sure if we'll get up tomorrow, as we may have a late night, plus the weather's looking a bit dodgy. PM me and I'll give you my number so we could meet up if we're skiing.
So tempting ... .but I think as I still have a small hematoma on my knee from silly skiing fall I should give it a miss.

How long do you think it will stay open?? don't suppose they give a discount for instructors??

Re: Skiing/Snowboarding 2011/2012

they're opened until May 20th (normally), btu only until tomorrow anything more than glacier.
I think that they give discount for instuctors, but not sure.
In anybody coming from Zurich, she/he could get a spot in my car.

May 28th this year. I suspect some of the runs from Stand to the laubersgrat chair will remain skiable for some time; the only question is whether the chair will continue to run. But there's so much snow on the glacier and down Rotegg to Stand that it'll still be worthwhile going up.

As for discounts - well, we could get one as instructors (but only because we work at the ski school here) but it wouldn't be better than the 33% we get off our 12-month pass as local residents

Re: Skiing/Snowboarding 2011/2012

I'm a big fan of Snow'n'Rail but this time I lack practical knowledge in ski resort's car parking department. What would be your recommendation for Sunday skiing trip with relatively good chances of finding a decent parking spot within lets say vicinity of 150km from Zurich? Would it exclude Flumserberg at all? Something relatively less crowded and doable Anyhoo, if we give it a shot between 9h00 - 10h00 hope it won't be too late though? Any tips appreciated...

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. For places with reasonable parking try Hoch-Ybrig (Weglosen). Also Melchsee-Frutt, Sörenberg and Klewenalp also have free parking close to the base stations. Engelberg charges for parking, but has got plenty available. I think Pizol also charges (use Wangs) but I forget.

Re: Skiing/Snowboarding 2011/2012

So it has finally been decided tomorrow is the day. We are thinking about Engelberg or Elms. Anyone already on holidays going skiing tomorrow and which locations you fancy?
