Mountain boarding

How about trying 'Mountain boarding?' down the road from me in Noiraigue Val-de-Travers. A nice article about it in the Romandie Migros mag this week.
A sort of skate board come snowboard, with fat wheels and a bicycle style brake. About 50CHF for 2 hours, tuition, guiding and all equipment provided (wear you own trainers).
See www.gout-region.ch

I so wish I could try. I learnt to snowboard aged 50 and got quite good at it- but if I want to enjoy next ski season, I better be sensible (aaarrgghh).

Or you could try the big fat tyre 'trotinettes' (scooters) at La Robella in Buttes. Up with the chairlift then down at your own speed.

My son was quite taken up with the idea when he saw it in the magazine. It'll take him till hell freezes over to persuade me to do it though.

The scooters look quite cool though. We've got a leaflet about them somewhere. Maybe a day out in the school holidays is called for.
