Bicycle Zurich to Zug

Dear Englishforum,
My wife and I want to cycle from Zurich to Zug this weekend. Can anyone suggest a route that we should take, starting from Zurich HB.
Neither of us are very experience bicycle riders so the easier the route the better.
Many thanks for your help :-)

Re: Bicycle Zurich to Zug

Hmmm I wouldn't recommend it... Better to get the bike on the train to Zug and cycle around lake Zug. It's about the same distance and a lot more enjoyable. The main problem is going over the Hirzel which will suck a lot of energy out of you specially since you will be faced with it right at the end of your trip.

Anyway in case you do decide to cycle, here is a route I would suggest, and if you don't fancy the trip over the Hirzel just take the train back from Horgen or head over to Rapperswil.

Re: Bicycle Zurich to Zug

Its very easy and a nice bike ride for a few hours. Make your way to the Sihl river (maybe near Sihlcity?) and follow it South. The bike route is right next to the river. You need to be on the east side as you go through Sihlwald but the path is well sign posted. Head to Silhbrugg cross under the road and then follow the path to Barr/Zug. There is not much uphill to do just a couple of short easy sections. The path is easy to follow.

Clearly not... But based on the previous post I'd say it's an easy one then... But I guess it's not a fast route, which is probably what the OP is looking for.

Re: Bicycle Zurich to Zug

The Sihltal is the valley that the river Sihl flows through. Whilst it has a few ups and downs it is the best way to go if you don't want to tackle the hirzel!

The previous link by one of the mods is pretty good actually! (Veloland)

Anyway the route can be seen clearly in the attached pdf.

Re: Bicycle Zurich to Zug

Another good site for routes is this one. It's designed for people to download the tracks or routes to their GPS unit but is quite informative even just as a reference, or you can download to an Apple or Android phone. I think most tracks also have elevation info so you can see how much climbing to expect easily.
