Lausanne 20K

Hi All,

Has anyone taken part in the Lausanne 20K before? I signed up following the 10K last year and although I have been "training" I know the 20K is, erm, rather hilly to say the least (should really have known this as it's in Lausanne ). Any horror or success stories out there?

Ta

Yep, the 10km. I've done it twice, my wife joined me the second time (and beat me really, really easily ) and quite a few friends have done it.

It's a great event, really well organised and a whole load of lausannois line the streets to cheer you on. The 10km is hilly enough - the first few km are flat but then you turn the corner and there's a hill plus there's another at about 7km.

The 20km really is hilly, going from the lake up to and around the cathedral. Nooooo, thank you!

Thousands and thousands take part, you get a running shirt and a medal at the end and it's just great fun.

Oh, and I hate running. I'll quite happily do 180km on my bike, but the 10km are more than enough for one year, thank you . That said, I'm signing up again this year...

Re: Lausanne 20K

I ran the 10km last year and it was absolutely amazing. I did not do any training prior to it and was kinda hesitant for the actual race but then I am glad I did take part. The atmosphere is wonderful with people cheering you on. kinda makes you feel like a star
Unfortunately I'll miss it this year as I am away
I would suggest that just go for it. It will be great and I am sure you will remember the happy experience

Well, looks like I'll just go for it! Thanks for the response.

I really like the look of the bike rides too. I'd never seen this before so thanks!! I'll definately enter one of the rides. Let me know if you enter too.
