Hi
There is a place called Birthlight Center Zurich in Kreis 4. It looks very appealing as I think pre/post natal is what they specialize in and they hold classes in English.

Congrats!

Hi Sally..

That would be awesome! Lets meet up for hot chocolate/coffee/tea sometime next week say Wednesday 10am Starbucks Bahnofstrasse, next to orell fuesli? Then we can discuss whether birthlight, airyoga or waschen und werden.

errnabonita - i hope my food stay in today

Re: Prenatal Yoga/Yoga for Expecting Mothers in Zurich

You should be able to go for a free trial lesson ("Probelektion" if translation is needed) - do ask. And, any good yoga teacher offering courses for expecting mothers will know which are suitable exercises... Have fun!

By the way, postnatal exercises at the same place as Beate's "Wachsen und Werden" on Neptunstrasse is great too. Beatrice Prader (midwife) gives these and you can take baby along too. Her site's in German, but she speaks English well enough.

Take the tram (11, 15) or bus (31) to Kreuzplatz. Walk up Klosbachstrasse (that's the road the 15 tram goes up towards Roemerhof). Neptunstrasse is the third road on your right, after Hegarstrasse, Minervastrasse - on the corner is the Asian restaurant Lemon Grass (used to be Suan Long). Turn right to no. 63 - just a few houses along. The doorbell to ring has the word "Praxis" on it.

Re: Prenatal Yoga/Yoga for Expecting Mothers in Zurich

Most health insurance companies pay something towards pre-natal courses (Geburtsvorbereitung). Mine paid Fr. 100.00. Not much, but every little helps . Do check with your insurance company.

Re: Prenatal Yoga/Yoga for Expecting Mothers in Zurich

Hi Carter
Well I've been practising at home for a couple of weeks now. A yoga teacher I trained with in LA has a pre-natal DVD out that I am currently using. I'm at 3.5 months and my dr. said it was fine to exercise weeks ago. I am hoping to sign up with Birthlight after Christmas holidays at 6 months.
My insurance won't cover any part of pre-natal yoga but I will try again anyway.
In any case, getting up and doing some kind of work out has done me an infinite amount of good lately, hope you find the same benefits to it.

Cheers
l.

Hi leylak!

Would you like to join me and Carter for a drink in Starbucks Bahnhofstrasse next to Orell Fuessli that sells English books at 11am Wednesday 31/10. It would be fun getting to know other mother-to-be.

What say you?

Another address: Sandra Ackermann, Geburt und Kind. She speks English well and I've just noticed she's one of the Birthlight instructors.

I've been to her http://www.birthlight.ch/collazo.html classes and she's great plus she teaches in English (she's American). She is also a new mother and a really nice person to know.
