Irish Dancing

Hi all!

I am thinking of offering Irish Dance classes and was wondering if anyone might be interested? A few of my adult friends have expressed interest in wanting to do something different and are urging me to "open up shop." I'm writing to determine if there was a public desire to give the jig a try.

I was originally thinking the classes would be for adults, for people who are looking for a different form of exercise. It could also be a good social outlet to meet new folks. In addition to adults, I would be open to giving private lessons to younger dancers who want some help fine-tuning what they already know.

A little about me...I was born in raised in Southern California. My parents enrolled me in Irish Dance at the age of 5 and I worked my way up the ranks ultimately winning the US Western Regional dance competition and dancing in the 1998 World Championships. My dance career took a bit of a back seat as I attended and graduated from university. Fast forward a few years and I now live in Zurich and I want to get back in touch with my roots.

I don't have my TCRG and therefore would be unable to enroll any dancers in a feis. I was thinking this might just be something fun for people to come together and do.

I'm still forming out all the details, but classes would be held once a week (maybe twice a week if the demand is great enough!) in a dance studio in the greater Zurich area. The cost would be <100 CHF for 6 consecutive lessons.

What do you all think? Would you like to do this? Does this sound like something you'd be interested in? If yes, PM me! Don't forget to tell me what days and times would be best for you!

I look forward to hearing from you!!

Hy, sorry I know your post is really old, but there is an amazing Irish Dance School currently offering classes in Dübendorf, which is very close to Pfäffikon, I live in the same area. Our teacher is not T.C.R.G., but she is an incredible dancer. Just write an e-mail and pop in!

About the feiseanna, unfortunately there are none in Switzerland, but WIDA offers many open feiseanna in Germany, some of them are quite close to the Swiss border.

Re: Irish Dancing

My daughter would be interested in Irish dancing. She is now 13 and did Irish dancing before we moved to CH 2 years ago(from 6 to 11 yrs). We are living in Thurgau - Balterswil. Where would be the closest classes.
