Camping

Hello,
Each time I google camping I get these camping car sites, but is there anywhere one can camp in the ZH, SZ area? Like with a tent and all?

I have camped a couple of times, right at the end edge of the Wallensee, in an official camping ground. It was lovely, being able to look out across the water, or up to the top of the huge cliffs nearby.

Are you looking for specific camping grounds, or for advice on places that would be nice to camp at?

What radius from Zurich? ANd how are you travelling? Train? car? bike? other?

The one I mentioned was at the very eastern end of the lake. I have no idea of the name, but it was easily found from the main bike route between Zurich and Sargens.

Other camping grounds I have stayed at in Switzerland include beside Lake Konstanz, in Bregenz ( well, almost Switzerland) Kreuzlingen, at the edge of the Rhine just above Shaffhaussen, another couple between there and Basel ( both Swiss and German sides of the border) St Ursanne, some farmers paddock signed posted "camping" somewhere else in the Jura, Flims. I have also seen a very nice one in Lautterbrunnen, another in Engleberg. All are ones I have found when I have been on by bike at the tie of day I was looking for somewhere to camp.

I have just done a quick google and one site you might like is actually that of a UK based camping/touring site, with camp grounds listed for various countries including Switzerland.

Here is another site that you might like: http://alanrogers.com/camping/switzerland

Car basically. 30 minutes from Zurich, any direction preferably. Some where, it is accepted.

Is Kreuzlingen/Konstanz too far for you?
